This afternoon’s (9th January) excellent news that Cardiff City will return to playing in Blue must be welcomed. Vincent Tan said he had spent time over the Christmas break with his Buddhist family showing the ‘importance of togetherness, unity and happiness’, it brings an end to the façade which has enslaved Cardiff City since the controversial change away from the clubs traditional colour of Blue. This ‘change of heart’ from Tan – an unbelievably successful businessman is a positive step, but we must ask a few questions which cannot be brushed aside despite the Red home kit being dropped. Why was Tan allowed to do this in the first place? He was able, through the power and influence of his money and investments to totally change the identity of Cardiff City, this was despite the fact that the vast majority of Cardiff and other football fans around the Football League intensely opposed the idea.
Tan called a meeting, headed by Chairman Mehmet Dalman earlier this week which saw unanimity from a cross-section of the clubs supporters groups in changing the colours back. But why has he done this? This is the second question that needs to be asked? Is it really because he has had a Buddhist inspired self-awakening? Or because his mother told him he was a naughty boy? Despite being the reasons insinuated by Tan these are of course not the real motives for the change. In actual fact, Tan is protecting his assets, protecting himself and his business interests, if he really cared about Cardiff Fans, this would never have been allowed to happen in the first place. My point is reinforced by the boycott of the 3rd Round FA Cup match vs. Colchester, which saw the ground under 15% capacity.
There was murmurs and rumours of growing discontent for the Fulham game tomorrow – this would have been a real test of the fans will against Tan, but he has now shielded himself, rebuilding his Cardiff Empire to restore his economic interests in the company. If there had been no fan protests, no talk of boycotting and no talk of revolution at Cardiff then it is very hard to see how Tan would have had a proclaimed an emergence for loving the colour Blue all of a sudden. It is true that Tan has made some positive steps in freezing season ticket prices, but fans should no longer take what he says at face value, he has taken from them before because it suited him, and if he is able to do so again, he will.
Cardiff supporters are now awake, no longer in an apathetic state of mind which formed amongst some supporters when they were experiencing success in winning The Championship or playing well in The Premier League. The mantle of responsibility is now with all football fans, fan power can win over the wishes of economic elites and their vested business interests. Whether this be with Hull in the Premier League, or the reformation of Hereford United after their collapse at the lower echelons of the football pyramid, fans must take the power which they have. The Chairman is not there by right, things can by changed, and as a Brighton fan I know this well; but it only works through community – the common unity of the football family. If you are not happy with the way your club is run, you are not the only one, remember we are fans not customers, take lessons from today’s success at Cardiff and remember that football without fans is nothing.

I quite like Vincent Tan. The more eccentrics in football, the better. Obviously very wrong of him to change the club colours but at least he's seen the error of his ways now.
Wasn't sure what that bit about the club incorporating some elements of his culture and beliefs was about, though.

Don't know what a mofo is, but thank goodness some crazy ass never tried to clear out all the dead wood at The Albion and change the colours from traditional blue to something mad like white - oh, wait a minute.....
