I’m just baffled that in 2022 a print-at-home/phone wallet option can’t be used. If Brighton can load the away seating plan into their system why can’t they then offer print-at-home? It makes no sense

The technology is out there, so what is stopping anyone using it?

I think we are constrained by the home teams set up and doubt they have the appetite to change their system for a one off game.

3 people in the away ticket office and a home steward making their first communication past 19:40 asking the crowd of 700 pissed off people
If anyone’s queuing up for tickets shows the investment that Charlton threw at the issue.

They’ve had our money and didn’t care frankly

The really annoying thing about the ticket fiasco was that it was so foreseeable after the club request for collections to be made from 5.45pm. They should have opened the office at midday to alllow people to collect them earlier. We got into the away ticket office queue at 6.45pm and it was evident we would miss part of the match. By pure chance when we asked a Charlton official passing by, he suggested we go to the main West Stand ticket office instead. Even though stewards and police told us we couldn’t do that, we saw him again and he told them to let us through and we had 8 tickets in our hand by 7.15pm with only 10-15 groups of people in that queue.

I’m not suggesting a one-off change; more questioning why in 2022 a football club can’t email out the bar code for away games.

To draw an analogy, if a little third-party concert ticket shop can create tickets for any gig on their list, why can’t a EPL football club?

The first part of your statement is what does my nut in. If TB can create a model which brings in players who are some of the best in the PL for buttons, his foresight is one of the best in the planet. It wouldn't take Caceidos scout to work out 1000 ticketless fans queuing for 2 hours before kick off would be a total shitshow.

Point taken, it makes no sense, the ownership / security issue will be the same for the home ends so agree do see a plausible reason. It just seems to be the done thing to do, all though I note Everton have introduced some. E tickets now.

I can only think it’s some sort of additional comfort blanket that away support (basically out of town trouble makers as a collective) have been engaged with at their home address so there will be a retribution if they the person holding the ticket kicks of.

Pretty sure you can put controls on emails these days preventing them or the attachments being cascaded further

Because Charlton is the gig venue mentioned and needs to be able to issue / read that barcode. I also suspect there’s an issue whereby if someone is duplicated / easily passed on to multiple people then it causes issues at the gates when people are denied entry because it’s already been used

My apetite for this game was on the floor and I toyed with staying home but got to the ground late and a bit after kick off. I think I was last person in. Had to queue for ticket then separate queue for the printer. I’d estimate there were about 1,000 envelopes left.

When I got to the turnstile the ticket didn’t work and steward had to let me in.

Out of curiosity, what time did you get in?

Club statement.
'Late arrivals' - unless the queue hit zero at any point during the collection process, the queue would still have lasted for the same time. So some people would have queued longer.
' Completely out of our control'. Cup draw to T1 sale - 18 days (ok, blame Charlton for most of that).
Purchase to posting - 9 days. Whose fault is that?

I know some don't believe it, but there are a lot of good people at the club who work hard to try and ensure things go well for Albion fans. I count Paul Barber amongst that number.

But, for the love of god, recognise that some people haven't had a great evening and empathise with that.
I don’t doubt that for one minute . But the facts were these tickets could and should have been sent earlier that’s down to Barber . Were you actually in the que ?
If you were then you would have seen what a complete f*** up this was a tiny shed on the same entrance as peopl with tickets people que jumping no organisation charlton blaming Brighton and barber blaming the postie . He himself should have been out there last night if he is so great and almighty instead of sipping champagne. Why wasn’t it a delayed kick off to help a little ? I did feel sorry the two three only stewards outside on the front line having to deal with that totally unfair on the them. The real facts are there were four from our group that just couldn’t be bothered anymore and sadly this number is growing

Why’s it down to Barber and not Jenny Gower who is head of supporter services which includes ticketing ?

It’s like blaming Jeff Bezos when you’re Amazon delivery doesn’t turn up

This, it’s not his fault personally as he doesn’t run SS, but he has to own the fall out as CEO and make sure it’s addressed.

(Purchase) History lesson time I think
