Car Parking Fued

Dear good friends of NSC

I have recently become embroiled in something of a food around car parking outside of my house. As anyone who has been to Lyme Regis knows, car parking can be an earache at the best of times, if there is no space outside my house I park on the road as close as possible. However one neigbour has taken objection and the last two times I have parked outside what he would perceive as 'his' space I have had dog turd smeared on my window and then this morning found the passanger side had been keyed.

:nono:

Any suggestions how I can stop this? I can take it to the Police but this guy is a bit of a meathead and I could do the same back to his car but assume I'll find next time I will have my tyres slashed.

Go to the police by all means, the only issue is that without any kind of evidence that these incident are down to him, there's likely to be little they can do beyond speaking to him. But at least he'd know you were on to him & it might make him think twice.

Two choices, either front him up or back down and don't park there.

My girlfriend had eactly the same problem in her student house - their next door neighbours even went as far as snapping off windscreen wipers and physically intimidating the girls in the student house. The Police's advice (which, I'm sure won't be too dissimilar to Edna K's) was that nothing can be done without evidence - i.e. unless the girls got a video (for example) of their neighbour vandalising their cars, nothing could be done. However, the street is for the use of the public and anybody can park there, so long as they are parked legally.

Bizarrely, the neighbour even had CCTV on the front of his house to 'protect his part of the road'.

I worked with a guy once who had a falling out with a neighbour over parking. He had the neighbours car towed away in the middle of the night, crushed and returned as a neat cube with number plates front and back. This might be illegal though.

He won't be detered by the police, likely.

Personally, I would Key his car right back, throw a brick through the drivers window, drop your flies and piss on his seat through the smashed window, deposit some of the shit he seems so fond of on his chair as well. Then write something profane (in permenant marker), preferably with reference to his mother, backwards, on his windscreen. Follow this up by slashing three of his tyres and stealing the fourth. finally, Key his car again for good measure and leave satisfied, job well done.

Just personally, thats what i'd do...

Edit: ...Well, its what i would think about doing

write Pedo in 2 foot high red paint acorss his house.

i jest, of course, but its unfortunatly likly the only sort of petty action that might make him reflect on his actions and stop. otherwise you've got to become some sort of private detective spying on him to catch him, or just give in. its a pain in the arse these people exist to waste others time, can only pity them really.

second thoughts, box clever. if its his space, help make sure everyone is aware, and make it inconvienent for him. obtain a couple of cones and write his house number prominantly on them. place them nicly in the middle/road edge of the space, to ensure its reserved for him. or, if available, use his wheely bin to the same effect (he cant throw this away). or a nice painting on the road "reserved for house X", will probably have the council round asking questions.

Some fool might suggest a leafleting and abuse campaign (as in pizzas, taxis, etc), as has been done on NSc before, crikey, whoever did that would get banned, wouldn't they?

This is what I feel like doing.

I was thinking of writing a letter to him but make out as though I have sent to all neighbours, informing of the vandalism to my car and that it has been reported to the police and that I am having CCTV installed in case it happens to anyone else.

Boring but relevant point- Only an issue if you own your house and might want to sell soon but if you go to the police and report him, you might have triggered a "neighbour dispute" which is a question asked about by a purchaser's lawyers in their Enquiries on behalf of their client. Might then put off the purchaser knowing his neighbour is a nasty piece of work.

You could of course lie, but if it comes out, you could face a claim from the purchaser.

Of course secondary in your consideration of your current nightmare, and wholly unsatisfactory (that you might be prevented from going to the law to protect the saleability of your house) but might be worth thinking about if you are looking to move.

Good shout nonetheless though.

Which seems the least confrontational approach, and the one the 'cold light of day' would recommend.
Assuming you are both home owners, anything else is likely to easily get out of hand.

If you really want to get them caught set up a camera. It's the only way.

Failing that get the mans name, email, work, phone number - anything you can. We're a creative lot on here once given a brief!

This happened in our street. We don't have a car so it didn't really concern us but we (and the neighbours) were warned by the police that any threats to people or damage to cars would be followed up. I've heard nothing more so I guess that the visit from the old bill might have had the desired effect.

If he picks a fight with you about your poor spelling you will have to back down!
