Im trying to find car insurance and the cheapest ive found was 1,600 TPO

Ive used the compare.com sites and tesco etc.. Im just about to give up anyone know of anygood sites??

The car im looking at for my qoutes is a 96 1.3 fiesta but not really fussed what car but that seemed an idea as its close to what id get.

Dad says its because im 18, MALE, and got knocked off my bike and had to make a claim (even tho not my fault:rant:)

Please help :(

Yh I tryed them that was the 1600 by quik fit, I dont mean cheap cheap but didnt think insurance would be more than a car! Was expecting around 1000 max for TPO

Ring around some brokers, I'm sure some will specialise in kids.

Listen to Dad fella! To be fair, it's probably more the 18 male part than a small claim on a bike!

Try Quinn Direct and find if it's worth doing pass plus still, some insurers will bring the quotes down by about 30% if you do it (however the claim may invalidate it anyway!)

I think Norwich Union still give a big Pass Plus discount so maybe try the same with them too but that really is the price you normally pay at that age if your a bloke! I'm sure Edna and Bry can tell you first hand why :nono:

Although it was on a bike, it was a big crash, ended up writing of the bike new so £2000 and his car, and my leg so add a few more and then all the other stuff that goes with it :( Really annoyed about this :( I know for a fact my m8 an 18yr old male got insured on a 98 corsa for 1,200 I think with tesco... I will inevitably have to do my pass plus but this is exactly why I want another bike so much cheaper

I do pity new/young drivers these days.

When I was 18 (some 17 years ago  ) I was driving a 1.8i Orion, which was bloomin quick for it's time. Still only paid about £300 insurance.

Even if you took into account inflation, that would only be about £500 in todays money. It's little wonder why so many people simply drive uninsured...

Try choosing COOK or something similar.....there's loads of different logics used & the same job but called something else has massive impacts on the risk analysis.......might get a bit off...

I see, I would of thought that chef would have been better than cook as chef is profesional tho? Hmm all worth trying thanks for all the help people. :)

Endsleigh & Tesco are the best for young drivers at the mo. also hastings are churchill arnt too bad.

Monkster is right about the occupation too. A chef is rated higher because generally they work in licensed premises, work long hours etc

£1600!! Jesus christ it's no wonder there are so many un-insured drivers out there!!

The first company I went with as a nipper was the Cooperative. No idea if they are still favorable young drivers or not though.

One thing I would suggest though is giving Stuart Adams a call (01424 420707) at Viking Insurance. Hastings based and die hard Albion fan (chairman of the A21 club). He might not be able to help but he's sorted me out in the past.
