Yes i really want my team to lose a game!! Remember a good cup run generates revenue, what with potential TV money etc! This all helps to FFP!

To a certain extent, the COC doesnt generate much revenue whereas the FA Cup does. But losing at home in what would be our first home game of the season, would be foolish especially as it may well be a new managers first home game as well !!

Winning 5-0 for example will be a decent boost.

The prize money is terrible in the league cup, and it congests the fixture list unlike the F.A Cup. The only positive is the potential TV money.

I wonder if fans of other huge clubs like Bradford, Birmingham, Swansea have a similar view.

That just highlights my point though. Yes, those clubs did have a good run in the league cup, but all of their seasons suffered as a result. Bradford put together a incredible run of form at the end of their season to regain a play offs spot, but in this division I don't think you can afford to drop in form for 5-10 games if your realistic ambition is to get promoted. As an aside, I can't remember the last time we beat a Premiership team away from home in a cup competition.

Fantastic draw. Really looking forward to this one, it's a game that will mean something to Newport and it should be the end of our rotten recent history in the League Cup...

Its so bad we only beat one Premier League team and came close to getting a draw with another two years ago

Birmingham were already in the shite when they won it, Bradford got PROMOTED after hitting form after the final and Swansea finished 9th, their highest ever finishing position.

Its really not that bad, in fact if you knock a decent team out, the team get a nice boost from it, similarly with a big win too.

I saw us play them in 1964. I think we won, I probably have the programme somewhere.

Pleased with this. They have a great bunch of supporters who take the piss put of themselves as well as the opposition. If it's a tenner to get in I can see them potentially bringing a 1000. They will bring flares and smokebombs, probably be the liveliest away fans for our first home game of the season.

Palace fans on Twitter are on their high horses at the moment - someone might need to remind them that Preston North End of League 1 thrashed them 4-1 last season in the Cup, yet somehow they still got promoted !!

Absolutely. It's a complete waste of time and a hindrance if we are targeting promotion next season.

If our management team was the same then maybe, but its an ideal competative game if we have a new manager with another one a couple of weeks later
