You must visit Khayelitsha whilst you are there. Its a quaint little hamlet in the suburbs where you will find an eclektic mix of people. The place is much better at night as well MOH.
Mitchell`s Plain (practically next door)is also worth stopping at to look at the beautiful colonial architecture.

A night out on Long Street is recommended. If you're reasonably fit I'd try and do one of the walks up table mountain instead of getting the cable car. The beaches at Clifton and Camps Bay are nice. Also worth having a look at the stadium being built at Green Point. If you go to Robben Island then you get the views of the city and mountain from a boat. I'd also go down to simonstown to see the penguins and then onto cape point where you should see some baboons and ostriches too. A shark dive should be top of the list though. Absolutely love cape town me.

I was there last year on a 2-week cricket tour with the Shropshire vets.

Fantastic place, I had one of my best nights of my life on the V&A Waterfront in a bar called "Quay Four" - which was preceeded by a sunset cruise in the bay on a racing yacht - try it.

I also did the "Huey" helicoptor ride and sounds like I sat in the same seat hanging out the side-gunners pod - breathtaking.

Wine tour is a must..

The only other suggestion that I've not yet seen earlier posters make is to take the circular tour bus ride - a full circuit takes about one hour - you can get on and off as often as you like - one of the stops is table mountain - which is also a must, although I'm not so sure about "walking" up it.

If you like Calamaries (fried squid), you'll love CT - and it's so cheap with the exchange rate, you can eat and drink like a lord.

Enjoy .....

If you want to see the other side of Cape Town - and get an understanding of why so many people are desperate to make a few rand for finding you a parking spot - call the guys at 'Cape Capers'.

They have a tour which will take you into District Six and the heart of one of the townships where you'll get to meet some of the locals. All those shacks that line the road on the way into town are the better houses...It had to be seen to be believed. Fascinating though, and - maybe contrary to expectations - you'll find some of the friendliest people of the whole trip there.
