So did [MENTION=8625]Nobby[/MENTION] go ?

I was supposed to be going skiing the week after next but it looks like it's going to be the first time in over 20 years that I don't go.

First of all, the kids have just called off because of work commitments (including one working on Coronavirus ), so it was just down to me and Mrs Wz. That wasn't too bad as, with only the two of us, the quality of hotel we were looking at went up considerably and we didn't have to go to the massive ski areas.

But now we're not going. It wasn't the virus that stopped us, just the fear of being quarantined somewhere for two weeks. We both have commitments in the two weeks after the holiday that we really can't miss

Literally just cancelled.

Supposed to be flying am tomorrow, so left it as late as possible, heart hoping that things may improve but head knowing they were only going to get a lot worse.

Absoloutely feckin gutted, but I am in the higher at risk group so just can’t risk airports and hotel dining rooms etc.
Ironically, there is probably more chance of getting the virus here.

Also, didn’t want to be trying to avoid everything / everyone and the possibility (however remote of being quarantined for 14 days) so wouldn’t have enjoyed it anyway.

Again, ironically, in a weeks time, when the govt shifts position, would have probably been able to claim for the cost, or at least part of it.

Oh well, encouraged by the fact that all games will be called off within three weeks and we will avoid relegation [emoji322][emoji322]
Hopefully everyone on here will be ok and get through the worst [emoji106]

Amazing, and just as you have returned the temp there has dropped to the seasonal norm of 20-21c.....

Think we might just have done the right thing this week [emoji32]

All Jet2 flights to mainland Spain and the Canary Islands have been cancelled with immediate effect, the British low-cost airline has announced. It operates flights from nine UK airports.

On Friday Spain declared a national emergency, closings bars, shops and restaurants.

"We are contacting our customers who are currently in these destinations, and who are due to travel, to advise them of their options, so we urge customers not to call us," the company said in a statement.

Anyone with an holiday to somewhere Spanish in the next month or over Easter, won't be going. 100% all will be cancelled. UK based or no holiday imho

I am here and due to fly back at end of week but can't make my mind up. The lockdown is a good thing imo and makes me feel more confident of avoiding it. But it doesn't feel good being away from my own country and there's an inevitability that I'll get it eventually anyway. If and when I do where would I prefer to be?

Usually have no difficulty making tough decisions but this one has me changing my mind several times a day

Can understand your position if you have homes in both, but for anyone else, I can't believe any overseas holiday will still be on after this week. (And even if you manage to get away, getting back could prove a little problematic).

Not only has it buggered me going skiing, but I suspect the early summer holiday I was going to take in June before the schools broke up is now looking unlikely

Yes we have a home here. If I were on holiday I would want back asap.

Unbelievably there are still Brits posting on a local forum hoping to come because they are in all inclusive hotels so don't need to go out. We have hols booked in June and September and they were written off in my mind a while back

Have an old cricket friend who is flying off to Turkey today. Really not sure of the wisdom of that and let's hope they don't examine his passport too closely and notice how much he's been to China on businesses over the last 6 months :+

I'm guessing you're monitoring the flight situation closely, but just in case you're not yet, I just had a quick look on the Easyjet site and all three flights from LGW to TFS today are cancelled. If you do decide to come home at the end of the week, might well be prudent to bring forward your travel plans if you can, because the option may well not exist by the end of the week. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Cheers
