Apart from Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Brian Adams there's Three Days Grace and Simple Plan, two excellent bands who've scored well in the US. Canada has a lot of great bands who don't get noticed because it's such a huge country with such a small population.

Tragically Hip
The ultimate Canadian band, in so far as *everyone* in Canada under 25 in the 1990s knows who they are, whereas literally nobody else had ever heard of them. Decent band, IMO.

Personally, I couldn't look beyond Arcade Fire and the legendary Neil Young in the finest Canadian music stakes.

I've never really got 'the Hip'. To me they are indeed the ultimate 'Canadian' band, in that they are solid, reliable, honest, hard-working... and slightly dull.

Fair comment I suppose. As I say, I thought they were decent enough. Probably the Canadian equivalent of the Wonderstuff, not so much in what they sound like but to whom they appealed.

Spookily Ken Bruce has just played "Spirit of Radio" after the 11:00 news on Radio 2 - a great song for air drumming.

Is Ken a closet NSC'er maybe?
