Obviously. I asked you what your opinion was of inebriation pre-alcohol within the human race.

Shows your absolute ignorance. Can you imagine where humanity would be today if Scientists and forward thinkers shared that insane view?

A stereotype or a blanket statement, that's the way it was written.

Where did you get the information which formed your views on pro-Brexit?

:dunce:

I have no current opinion of inebriation pre-alcohol within the human race.

I am not ignorant. We have different views. I have a moral stance I am happy with backed by experts albeit ones you disagree with.

My statement was misinterpreted from what I meant.

My decision on Brexit is formed from my own thoughts. I believe in a global economy fit for the future and a government who have the power to act in accordance with democracy.

I am not a dunce. I have a good education but have a different point of view to you. I am confident enough not to be bullied to change that opinion.

The reason that marijuana was made illegal was...?
I mean really. What on earth is so bad? Its been used effectively for pleasure and medicine for thousands of years.

It is bad for your health. It is anti social, many people dislike the smell and don't wish to breathe the second hand smoke.

You have no knowledge of it.

I am not ignorant. We have different views. I have a moral stance I am happy with backed by experts albeit ones you disagree with.

The vast majority of your posts on this thread point otherwise.

I am confident enough not to be bullied to change that opinion.

There is no bullying, just exploiting your absolute inexperience, ignorance and narrow-mindedness.

It is a very tricky boundary for me as a parent though, because I want to bring them up as law-abiding but I would also be encouraging them to break the law by extolling the virtues of cannabis. I am currently a law-abiding citizen except for this one thing where I break the law.

So again, keeping it illegal sets the wrong message and hopefully the government will rectify this one day

I understand your dilemma. But we all break the law sometimes. Streaming online may be one that many NSC members are guilty of. Providing we are not punished for minor crimes that just set a boundary, the law can be used to keep certain activities in a private setting.

Well being bad for your health, mental health, is certainly valid.

No, its not good for your lungs, particularly. Mental health? Im not so sure about that one. Some people do develop mental health problems. So do people who drink as an example. Think thats more down to the individual than drink or a plant.. Still not the reasons for its illegality currently though. Its amazing how history changes really. Marijuana illegal in England. The country that had two wars with China for not buying our Opium!.

Think that's the first time I've ever heard anyone sat that. Think it smells beautiful.

First time i've heard anyone say it smells beautiful. It's a horrible smell. I'm dead against it being made legal here

Your opinion appears to be based on your (or family member's) bad experience.
With regards to a person 'going down a bad path' in relation to cannabis, this is due to the person and their chemical & biological make-up, or even social/environmental reasons, not ingesting THC.
Though I absolutely would agree that cannabis could exacerbate an underlying (or pre-existing) mental issue(s) in some instances, which is likely what happened to your family member.

Probably some truth in that but I've heard that argument from stoners all over the world. My family aside, I genuinely find grown adults digging around in an old Quality St tin to find a roach, crumbling weed into a skin etc profoundly depressing. Its like spending time in a squat.

I agree, that image is grim.
But that isn't a representation of people who consume cannabis. More a representation of those possibly on a very low income, with little hope or potential, who turn to substance as a coping mechanism - that's what I get from the image anyway, I guess it is subjective.

It's a difficult one as things are just very different over here, compared to Brighton/UK.

I've discussed the legalisation of cannabis with my adult children who are still part of the clubbing scene and to get a different perspective with an old mate who has been smoking it daily for medicinal and recreational purposes.

It's now stronger than it was in my youth and they know of many people who have suffered mental issues from smoking it. It is now a harder drug than it used to be. They also say it is in their experience most definitely a gateway drug.

However there is a case for legalisation. As William Hague recently said, the war on drugs has been lost. The current law does not work. Most students at Uni has tried or regularly using drugs, the statistics are staggering. Maybe we should think about a different approach.

This is a good reason for legalization. You know what you're getting as it's displayed on the packet in THC:CBD ratios and percentages.

They also say it is in their experience most definitely a gateway drug.
Most likely due to the person, not the herb. A down and out is going to find the cheapest ways to escape reality. Weed is a cheap and easy escape for those people. If they want to escape further and harder, then they will eventually get to the harder drugs.

It being illegal sets a boundary for parents to give their children. As far as I can see those who use it privately are not chased by the law. But if you were annoying others with the foul smelling smoke, they could make a complaint. The right balance from my prospective.

If you need the law to set boundaries for your kids, you aren't doing a very good job.

Alcohol, tobacco, gambling and porn are all legal for adults, do you just give up and let your kids use them?

My education comes from medical experts on TV

I apologize because I didn't look hard enough, until now. I didn't look far enough. I didn't review papers from smaller labs in other countries doing some remarkable research, and I was too dismissive of the loud chorus of legitimate patients whose symptoms improved on cannabis...

I mistakenly believed the Drug Enforcement Agency listed marijuana as a schedule 1 substance because of sound scientific proof. Surely, they must have quality reasoning as to why marijuana is in the category of the most dangerous drugs that have "no accepted medicinal use and a high potential for abuse." They didn't have the science to support that claim, and I now know that when it comes to marijuana neither of those things are true...

We have been terribly and systematically misled for nearly 70 years in the United States, and I apologize for my own role in that.

how does one smoke daily for both medicine and recreation, how to distinguish the two states? or is it just addition, the first one is to hold off the jitters, after that its for fun and laughs.

I don't know you so I mean no offence but you read like someone in denial. Apologies if I'm off mark.
