I am Sure when my son was a steward their they were told it is a fire hazard.

Probably was told that. Unfortunately the person that told him obviously had no knowledge.
I am a sparks, have installed fire alarm systems, and have spent the last two years on working on one of the most sophisticated systems out there. The system is used on government buildings, submarines etc. Having inquired and vaped next to smoke detectors and the Vesda system which sniffs the air and is a far far more sensitive system than the smoke detectors, i can assure you that your son was fed a load of smoke and mirrors.

Call it an ex smoker if you will, you are still however a nicotine addict,or addicted to nicotine...

I smoke,3 before a game,i smoke a few more after the game swapping stands..

A lot of people vape the liquids with 0% nicotine, just flavours. A strawberries and cream is out for Wimbledon, and i am looking forward to the Harvey's bitter when/if it comes out.
I reckon a few on here would love "Bitter".......

On average 10 people or so are caught smoking in the North Stand each match.

open the gates at 1/2 time, let the puffers puff......problem solved.
lets face it you all congregate by the exits at the interval doing sod all.might as well make yourself useful.

As was pointed out earlier, clearing the seats means the stewards can then be used elsewhere, minimising the numbers of stewards and associated costs. One of Barber's main jobs was to minimise the massive overspend that had occurred since moving to the Amex because it was impacting on our squad budget with the impending FFP.

Maybe you should write to him about it, and explain why you think it would be beneficial to let fans stay in their seats for as long as they want after a game ? From all i have heard, he will respond very promptly .

They would save more money if they made fans put their rubbish in the bin rather than leaving it strewn across the stadium. Maybe they should get the stewards to enforce a take your rubbish with you policy as well if they are that worried about the costs.

I haven't ruled out writing to him but my first thought at the time was sod coming here again if I can’t even be treated as a human. Great PR that is.

I suppose some have managed to give up the craving for nicotine, but can not give up the habit of actually inhaling etc, the habit.

.

They could cut costs by reducing the number of stewards and the duration of their shifts. The last hour before the concourse closes their is usually 30 stewards watching a handfull of people finish their pints.

And they are quite happy to sell wine and beer so what is the difference. Not only is alcohol unhealthy it brings out the idiot in people and probably makes it harder work for the stewards.

Hey listen, like i say i am on about 20 a day,i would love to use an e cig,but for me personally it really makes me cough every time i inhale so i simply cannot use them physically, its great that it works for you in the no smoke sense, but if you are using nicotine, its still a relative problem, that could perhaps one day get you back onto the real thing.

I am simply not ready,i've tried and it has nothing really to do with a clash of wills, does it require will power stop? i'd say no...

I would say when your ready you and i will have no desire and that is all it comes down to..

I have not read anywhere that your seat has to be immediately vacated on the refs final whistle. I don't feel that remaining in your seat listening to a post match discussion on the radio and waiting for the car park to disperse is unacceptable.

I feel sure that 99.9% of stewards are simply trying to do their jobs, obviously there will always be, as with any other profession, a small percentage who are incompetent. or try to be difficult.

In any case, is waiting on the concourse after the game that much of a hardship?

I get what you are saying, but for me i had tried many times to give up including Champix. I had smoked for nearly 40 years. Some of the E liquids do make you cough but if you buy a decent one or ones that suit, you don't.
I would almost definitely gone back to smoking if i was not on an E cig, and after 16 months i have not touched tobacco.

Yes it was actually, my plan was ro listen to the post match on the radio, get a burger when the queue had died down and then go to my car. You cannot get a radio signal in the concourse and the queue for food and drink was massive. It is perfectly logical for me to do this as getting away from Falmer needs to be staggered, some even leave 20 mins early. Fans are encouraged to wait in the concourse for the human traffic to clear so whilst the Amex is open for business sitting in your seat waiting shouldn't be a problem.
