I suspect that's part of the problem, Jason Steele just isn't a Premier League goalkeeper, it would take a minor miracle for RDZ to drop Sanchez for that very reason. He badly needs more competition for his place.
But that was the same with Ryan 3 years ago or so.....

Sanchez has to do better with to better with 3rd and 4 th same with Lamptey. Did they cost us a point possibly but then again would Arsenal have done the substitutions which weakened them and allowed us to get back in the game.

Bit harsh as Pervis should have done better and left Sanchez up shit creek.
Also made a brilliant save early on

Made a critical save in the first half and was much more commanding.
Had f*** all to do in the second half and had a last minute mix up with Pervis.

Wouldn't have made the mistake at 0-0 IMO

He did make an excellent save, but that doesn't excuse the shocking penalty

I think, whilst Sanchez is obviously good enough to be number 1 at the club, he suffers from a lack of concentration at times. I'd like to see the club bring in some serious competition for him - not to replace him, but to put a bit of pressure on him. There's no jeopardy for a bad run of form currently.

It’s incredibly difficult though - how do you sell that to the new keeper, what happens to Steele…

More competition wouldn’t hurt, but I doubt there’s a queue of keepers of a similar quality to Sanchez who want to come to Brighton and sit on the bench.

Well, let me put a different perspective on the view widely expressed on this thread that it was Sanchez that was at fault for the penalty. First, it was a combination of Sanchez and Pervis that led to the penalty -- if Pervis hadn't tried to block Iwobi, pretty sure Sanchez would have got to the ball first; Pervis didn't actually do that good a job of blocking Iwobi either. Second, when the fault is with a combination of players -- usually involving communication -- it becomes that more difficult to issue culpability, which is another way of saying that mistakes happen on the football pitch and they're more likely to happen when more players on one side are involved (largely because communication becomes that much more difficult).
