The Palace game was cancelled due to a train strike planned on that day.
That train strike has been cancelled so the match should be re instated.
Maybe it's going to be.
Write to Brighton and ask for the match to be put on again.

I'd rather they didn't, we would get thoroughly beaten. I don't think I would be able to handle that. I can handle four weeks without football though.

What a desperately poor quality thread.

Very poor.

So disappointing.

I think the key sentence is 'maybe its going to be'. There's no point putting out an announcement saying the games back on, if days later its cancelled again because of the situation with the Queen's funeral. That will only infuriate people who are booking/cancelling train tickets etc. I assume they're waiting to see if other games are going ahead.

Also people (not necessarily you) keep talking about this as if BHAFC are the ones who have decided to postpone the game, and therefor are dragging their feet about getting it back on. It was postponed at the decision of Sussex Police, and a travel safety advisory board, and therefor they will tell the club if it can go ahead.

There's so many factors to think about on this. For all we know with the game postponed and the Queen passing, Police resources were reassigned for other things relating to the funeral. Only for then the train strike to be cancelled and the game able to be put back... but too late there's not enough in terms of security/police. It's a hypothetic situation, but all of this is out of the clubs hands right now.

Isn't there some scheduled enforced mourning interfering with that game as well?

No because most other sports are carrying on today as normal. Football has massively dropped the ball by cancelling all games this weekend. With that said I’m glad we aren’t playing and I’ll be very happy to continue with the Palace game being off next week as it allows us more time to get the new manager in. So they can feel free to cancel all football next weekend as well.

Sure, I get that. But at the same time the boys had a good thing going and a month without football could disrupt that... manager or no manager.

Plus its just dull as hell without Brighton playing any football for a month.

What did you say in your letter to the club Brian?

I don't know. It's (hopefully) going to be a month of no football for everyone, so at least in that respect its a level playing field. If we'd gone into the next two games in a state of floundering, managerless disarray, we'd likely have lost them both, which would have further disheartened the boys. At least this way we have time to choose our new manager carefully, and he and the boys will have a good period of time to get to know each other.

Chelsea having a new manager and getting a pre-season with him is extremely galling though.

I find it quite strange that after knowing about the strike action weeks in advance, and Brighton plod giving the game the ok, you requested a postponement days before you lost all your back room staff .
Coincidence?
