Oh, it's absolutely nailed on that the Always Ultras up the road will be using the clapping thing next season. Which will no doubt become part of The Famous Selhurst Park Atmosphere(c). This is assuming they've come down from the high of generating The Best Atmosphere The Cup Final Has Ever Seen (c) of course.

Can we also not do the PA guy announcing the first name of the sub, and the fans shouting his surname.

Which happened tonight.

Memories of our friends up the road doing that with their goal scorers.

Totally tin pot......

Not entirely sure of the politics of this but from what I understand there are fans under the police box and fans somewhere else who are apparently in charge of singing but don’t get on or cant hear each other(didn’t quite work out in the play offs as the whole stadium ignored them and erupted into their own noise but that’s a different matter)

is it possible they could meet at a neutral venue and agree anyone doing iceland clapping should be slapped around the face yodel style and anyone singing don’t take me home should be taken home in a sussex ambulance after a chat from everyone else

...that we won't do either of the following next season (or ever for that matter):

1. Sing "Don't take me home..."
2. Do the Iceland clap thing.

Number 1 is irrelevant because when we go away we spend our time telling the opposition it's a shithole and we want to go home.
Number 2. Can't promise that won't happen. Someone is bound to do it.

Iceland clap?

Not to be confused with

The Reykjavík Handshake

When it comes to sexually transmitted infections, the one you’re most likely to pick up in Reykjavík is chlamydia, by far. Iceland has had the highest rate of chlamydia infection in Europe for the past decade, an accomplishment that lead the condition to be nicknamed the “Reykjavík handshake.”

Is that why nobody has shaken Steve Copple's hand from Palace days onwards?

The thing with the clap is you have to get it perfect or it looks a bit rubbish. France did it last night and it wasn't nearly as good as the Icelandic version. You've got to be a) co-ordinated and b) have everyone shut up while it's going on. Otherwise it just doesn't work, and doesn't seem imposing at all.

Don't take me home has been around quite a long time now. Newcastle sang it first I think at away games. No need to adopt that - it works well as an England away song though. I recall Watford singing it after winning promotion at our place the season before last - it sounds cringey when it's done by Southerners only IMO - and is a Toon song

The Iceland clap would be hilarious in the North stand. I sit in the middle, and I'd have the right of me eagerly starting it, and the left side of me ignoring it until they can do it their way (too fast) or start right after the right of me had finished.
