Can 'spooks' track me even if I weren't to leave the house.

Last night I watched a CSI where a kid learn't to make bombs from t'internet. Then the news, plenty of 21.7 coverage.
Also making bombs but they were flagged up by travelling to Afganistan etc.
Then, Have I Got News Of You, which made reference to a breakdown of regional google hits.

So if I were to start googling 'how to make bombs', sympathetic muslim extremist sites, that sort of thing, would I eventually alert the powers that be. Even though I'm no threat.

I guess what I'm asking is how much is 'Big Brother watching you'.

And yes today's the day I've decided to clear some of the useless stuff from my head.

If you're doing web searches for bomb making, I hope they're watching you.

There was a report on the news yesterday that pretty much gave you a "how to" guide on bomb making...I was watching it thinking "Cheers for that" I hope no aspiring terrorists were watching as well.

I guess I should have used the word hypethetically, but as I can't spell it (proven) I didn't bother.

But my question still stands can or would 'they' track someone down from basic t'internet searches

Yep. So there's no doubt that most of the posters in NSC have already been flagged as sexual deviants

So they can then, everybodys happy with that.
Next question, how?

I'm guessing I'd have to start using key flagged words and visiting 'known' sites a fair few times before a computer, a damn site quicker than mine, today, somewhere puts 2 & 2 together.
Unless of course, due to this thread a high number of guests suddenly arrive here.

How much is 'Big Brother watching you'.

I wouldn't let it worry you too much to be honest. Apparently you can be a known muslim extremist but still allowed to leave the country, with a bag full of cash and a manual on gunwounds, attend a jihadi training camp in Pakistan, and come back into the UK to make bombs without anyone doing anything about it.

Yes, part of my reason for asking the question.
I think I will give the Jihadi training a miss, what with the Tour de France & neighbours back on the telly.

But thankfully (assuming you are talking about what is in todays papers) he was educated here, failed his maths GCSE and miscalculated the explosive mix so its didnt go off properly.

Proving the British education system is a success

When I was 17/18 I "stumbled" onto a site that explained how to make a H-bomb out of a hoover and some various radioactive parts. Probably shut down now, but I remember thinking that that seemed far too easy.

Only if you have a few lumps of radioactive material in the cupboard under the stairs as well as the hoover

Spooks is a racist remark. Suprised the PC brigade not been banging on about this post?

As I've previously worked in the horticulture industry I don't need to go to America, hijack a lorry, and even more scarily take apart Wifey's Dyson to create a bit of a bang.
I can just pop to the chemical store.

Yes they can flag you up, yes it's easy to manufacture something to cause problems to the security and emergency services, and Fort Monckton in Gosport is an interesting place, as is Menwith Hill.

The anarchists cookbook comes in many different flavours, and the best place to find out how to make things that go bang is on the Times Educational Supplement website Community pages. Science teachers......

Erm no it'd be very difficult for you to be 'automatically' flagged up.......
