I'm working in the same lab as the guy who led that study. Suffice to say the truth is a lot more tedious than that. Fortunately though, because the tabloid press had such a field day with the press release, we've had a metric shit-tonne of funding since it was published!! What's not to like?!

Just wondering if inhaling your own flatulence on a regular basis can do you harm. All those handfuls of lovely aromatic gases.
