Well, can they?

It's a question that's been vexing me over the festive period. Are both parts fully functioning? If they are, surely it must be possible that they can both father and mother their own child?

No cheating by researching on the internet, just vote yes or no. Feel free to elaborate on your reasoning.

If they could, it might be unwise. Depending on how they are genetically. It could be akin to the keeping it in the family. How appropriate considering the home team today:hilton:

I'm not so bothered by what the resulting child would come out like more if it's possible. Although wouldn't it have exactly the same genes as its parent....making a mini me of the parent? Would that make the child a hermaphrodite too?

They need to teach science better in schools.

I have absolutely no idea, but voted no. It's never been a subject I've ever thought about before, I've always thought that even though they had both genitalia, they were both stunted or not fully functioning, not a perfect set of both? I don't know, I'm still drunk so I'm going to get my headphones out and doze to the game later....

Its a good question, and one that needs answering.....but I wouldn't have thought so.

I remember from studies (psychology degree) that it is theoretically possible. It would require at least one functioning teste and ovary. It is rare that both function and even rarer that the tubes would be suitably connected.

Something to test out in future.
