There is a lot of doom and gloom on this board today and understandably so.

However, I think Dick Knight and the Board have pulled another master stoke here. Coupled with the money we stand to make from the Spurs game we have just cleared a substantial amout of cash from the A&K target!!

We also have a good squad with great team spirit. The fact that Currie has gone will not dent this spirit one bit IMHO.

We have options in Knight, Jarrett and Jones to replace Currie down the wing. I actually think that is Knights best position. Henry likes to pick the ball up there and so I see no reason why Knight could not score a few from that position himself.

We have Virgo and Claridge up front. These boys are not easy to knock off the ball and can hold the ball up well. They also give us decent aerial presence in the box.

In the middle of the park we have Chippy and Nicolas who have worked well together. There is goals in those two too now that we have the ability to hold the ball up and giving them a chance to get forward.

We have a very sound defence with Butters and Cullip as our rocks. Harding and Reid on the flanks are also able to get forward when needed.

Kuipers in goal needs no bigging up.

The only area we are a little light weight is the left side of midfield but that has nothing to do with Currie anyway.

In short, the future is bright, the future is Albion!

I like the way you've compared Knight to Henry :lolol:

Dan Harding will be gone next. This is all down to DK fault again . Where are the beautiful crosses going to come from? And the corners will be crap like last season. Thank you DK.

My point is that Knight shouldn't be pissed off from having to play on the wing as I believe he will get the ball a lot easier there than in the middle of the park. He enjoy srunning at defenders and this is an oportunity from him to receive the ball at his feet and do this.

He also has good pace and the ability to put a decent ball in the box for our players over 5'. I think the only place we will lose out with Currie is our set pieces.

oh yeah agree with you totally, just find it funny to use Henry as the example!
Anyway yeah Curries set pieces will be missed, but we coped after Watson vanished and we will cope again. Chippys got a decent corner on him and its about time he started playing better, maybe now is his chance to shine....hopefully!

Still disagree, I think his best position is up front, 27 goals last season back that up. He needs service and sadly one of the few players capable of providing that service has left.

When did Carpenter last put a decent corner in? In honesty, last season when Chippy took the corners did you really think it would be something special and hard to defend like the Currie numbers?

The only other player that could deliver a decent corner was Rodger, oh and he has had to retire.

Where will the money go for Currie? and what about Harding if he goes.

Remember the Zamora ordeal the money didnt go to coppell it went to the falmer campaign.

You are joking of couse?

How many goals has Knight scored from service from Curry?

How many goals has Knight scored from crosses?

I agree with you here. I'd have Knight taking the corners. He's no good in the air at corners (not in this division).

I'd like to see Chippy at the edge of the area Scholes stylee waiting for the loose ball to drill home.

Knight this season has not been helped by the fact he has had no service as the game plan has been built around Virgo rather than Leon.

If you think Knights best position is on the wing, then I will refer to 27 goals last season when playing through the middle.

However the chances of playing to Knight's strengths now are zero if the midfield is going to consist of Carpenter, Nicolas and Oatway. A lot of good work will be done with this trio but very little flair there.

Which is exactly what happened to Knight at Sheff Wed and he left them after telling Turner ( i think it was him) that he should be playing up front, not stuck out on the wing.

A forward line of a converted full back and a guy whose career was over two years ago does not exactly fill me full of confidence.

I think, and this is my personal opinion so no "you're talking out your arse" comments, yes, its obviously a great piece of business...to sign someone for nix and then sell him on 6 months later for 250k is great, but my concern is that Currie was the only player to take a decent corner, decent free kick and decent cross...

I have blind faith in DK..he obviously knows what he is doing and of course all this doesn't metter as Falmer is the bee and end all of everything at the moment. I am just happy to be here:rolleyes:

Why can't we play Hammond?

Maybe it is time to give Dean Cox a run in the first team. Or Jarrett.
