Nah, don't think so.
Don't think Key, Giles or Anderson (on current form) would cause the Aussies too many problems .
Whilst we've def improved in the last 12 months, we are still some way short of beating Australia over 5 tests.

i wish this was true.

we look good but the windies are in a bad state at the moment.

this twenty20 game we have against the aussies could be very embarassing. :(

We need around 2 to 3 consistant winning seasons before we can even hope to compete against the Aussies.

I reckon we could, the Aussies are an ageing team and they have no real replacements for Fatboy and McGrath. They've also lost the mental strength they had when Tugga was captain.

I'm not necessarily saying that England will win as the Aussies are still a good team. But, for the first time for nearly 20 years, it could be close.

An interesting pointer will be the series in India this winter: if the Aussies can win or draw that, they're still the same awesome side. I'd love to have the money to go to watch that one.

I think we have the perfect yardstick against the South Africans this winter. hat wuikll tell us how much mental strngth we have as a squad. That is what you need in bucket loads to beat the Aussies.

Theya re slightly on the wane as a bowling side. McGrath is past his best, Warne is passing his best and Gillespie is injured with a long term problem. Lee will never bowl as quickly again after his injury so you ae looking at a weaker bowling line up across the squad.

The one drawback of having a great side all together is that they all disappear together.

It will be far more interesting than usual.

Much as I admire Stewart, atherton, Hussain, Gough, CAddick etc, I think it will be a huge boost that these guys are not around. They have only ever expereinced defeat aginst the Aussies and I am sure that psychologically they had a mental block believing that we could beat them.

Undersatndable given the performances and calibre of the sides they were playing in, but all the same, with the influx of genuine quality and youth we now have I think that it is good that we have fresh faces unsullied by the jackboot of Australian cricket grinding them into the dust.

Before we think about that series we have a really tough one against the hard bastards of cricket, the south Africans.

Bring it on:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Stewart Gough Hussain and Atherton in there hey day would still walk into our side at the moment.

I think we have far more of a chance than normal tho.
