There is a covid proctol in place for PL games re a 3 week period after Olympic participation but doesn’t apply to friendly games for some reason. So no MCAllistair against Burnley and no Wood against Brighton . I’m sure I read this a while back - unless this has changed !

Can't find a reference to this anywhere.

Seems odd they can't play in PL games but can in friendlies

If he does Naylor may as well pack up…

I’m betting he doesn’t - that lancs live thing is a load of rubbish for one. But let’s agree one thing and hope I’m right!

Just checked and Mac Allister last played on 28 July so that would be within 3 weeks, so if Owen is right, then you’re right there’s no rule.

Just done a bit more research...

One of the Olympic Honduras team is a guy called Juan Obregon, who plays for Hartford Athletic in the American USL. Honduras' last match was the same day as Argentina's (and hence Alexis Mac Allister).

Obregon played for Hartford Athletic in the USL on Saturday.

Also, someone called Elijah Just was in the New Zealand squad, but played for Helsingor in the Danish First Division on Friday.

Therefore, I'm calling bollocks on the "Chris Wood and Alexis Mac Allister can't play on Saturday" garbage.

Agree, Burnley rag saying he's available:
Burnley expect to have key pair Nick Pope and Chris Wood in the starting line-up against Brighton when the Premier League season kicks off on Saturday.

Shows how little Naylor knows. No 3 week rule at all. In fact, if anything, players from the Olympics are probably more match ready than others who weren't at the Olympics.

I also assume Wood had a break/holiday when the PL season finished before he joined up with the Olympic squad.

Can somebody on Twitter contact Naylor to point this out - and if he’s wrong send a smarmy look at me self important tweet to him pointing out his incredibly false info…

There is no "if" about it - Harry Souttar was in the Australian Olympic squad; he was on the bench for Stoke City on Saturday and starts for them in the Carabao Cup this evening.

Martinelli played last night, Sky Sports reporting that Richarlison is available for Everton and Wood is available for Burnley so Mac Allister will be available.
