Can anyone remember mid spring weather being this bad?

Only in the UK can you get a hose pipe ban and a flood warning in the same week :lolol:

VERY nice Springtime happening in Stockholm area. Light rains have only promoted the grass and tree-blossoms, as well as daffodils.
Since the freeze lasts a little while, when the sun comes out it absolutely EXPLODES with Spring blooms here.
And the wimmins start taking off the Canada Goose down jackets, so all you see everywhere is skin or skin-tight jeans.

Happens a lot in Australia, we can get torrential rain for a whole day but does nothing the water reserves.

The positives here in the UK are that the current wet conditions are giving the growing season a nice start, which will help farmers, gardeners and allotment holders alike. Also, although our aquifers are not responding, at last the river flows are normal and reservoirs are slowly increasing their water levels.

If nothing else, the current rain will dampen down water demand, and will indirectly help to protect water supplies for later on the year.

Was looking last night and today has potential for nasty storms which have a good chance of including Tornadoes, last night a supercell storm passed over the UK, hitting the Midlands hard.

I was thinking while we have had lots of Tornadoes for years they seem to be hitting populated areas alot more, how long before we have a warning system? I know our's are not that big but they could easily kill.

Last Spring was wet and cold so perhaps this type of weather during April/May might be a feature in the coming years.
The recent rain can hardly make up for two very dry years but at least it makes it unnecessary for farmers/gardeners to water for a while.

Wrong, last year April & May were COMPARITIVELY the best two months of the year

Back in the 1980s my wife & I used to go skiing in Aviemore on the late May bank holiday, things getting back to normal, end of global warming?
I often wonder what caused the end of the last ice age given that most of the country looked like Greenland.
