You don't know better. The guidence on how to handle these procedures was correct.

Re-read my final sentence, your quote of the laws would suggest that I do know better wouldn't it clever bollocks. Whatever the laws say there was no reason to delay the return of Calderon as he was ready to come back on before play resumed. While were on the subject of the laws of the game how can the ref blow the final whistle whilst the ball is dead?

Becuase we are playing football not basketball (time when the ball is outside the pitch counts towards the overall playing time)

It is to stop feigning injury and wasting time for treatment. If they then have to go off the field and let that 'phase' of play being before coming back on, it is a deterrent to stop this.

Referee can blow for full time wherever they want, although well advised to do so when in a neutral position

Why don't the goalkeepers have to swap their shorts and socks as well :moo:

This used to be the rule until Tim Howard got sent off once :moo:

But he wasn't wasting time or feigning injury, he just wanted to get on with the game.Surely the ref should have wave him back on at the earliest opportunity - which was whilst the ball was still out of play. On your second point why do they add time on when the ball is out? On countless occasions I've seen the ref indicate he'll be adding time on when the ball is out of play or does this all come back to the refs discretion?

That is just the way it is played innit! Re: time, No-one can question a referees time keeping at any level.

Calderon didn't leave the pitch for treatment though , purely to put the new shirt on.Then despite having the opportunity to wave him back on the ref insisted on making him wait until the boro attack had broken down.If I didn't know better I would say that it seemed like a deliberate attempt to put us at a disadvantage by another piss poor ref.

Calderon did wash his mouth out with a large swig of water if that counts as treatment for a cut mouth...

I agree - I thought the Ref (Deadman) lived up to his name, was piss poor and pedantic in that instance

Because, as has been said, Calderon was bleeding. He had to change his shirt because there was blood on it (as per the rules), and he had to wait until an official had checked he wasn't still bleeding (as per the rules), before being allowed back on to the pitch (as per the rules).

Reina getting sent off relates to an entirely different law of the game, there really is no link whatsoever. You are obliged to have two identified goalkeepers on the pitch, therefore the officials had no choice but to allow the defender to switch shirts, as they could not continue the game until he had done so.

Not that difficult, is it?

The club staff(possibly pysio) had a look in Calderons mouth and gave him something, also on his return Calderon ran up to the ref to show him that his mouth had stopped bleeding

Actually it is that difficult. The ref unnecessarily delayed Calderon re-entering the field of play, there was ample opportunity whilst the ball was out of play. I'm not disputing the fact that as he was bleeding he had to go off, change his shirt& get checked by the lino I'm questioning whether the ref delayed his return longer than he could of. In my opinion he did.
