Hi long legged one.

Redshoot in the new forest is where I go, for one reason only.

It has a cracking old pub next to it that brews it's own beer.

Trouble is, it's pricey, and in season a minimum stay is required.

Love this place... great location in new forest.

An alternative a little closer to home is WoWo (Wapsbourne Farm), next to BlueBell Railway.

Great place for kids to be playing outside, an afternoon on the steam trains is a short wlk down the road (if they are young enough to enough this sort of thing) and its one of the only campsites I've ever been too that not only allow open fires, they positively encourage them! Great for some together time as a family with the older kids!

if you want local, blacklands farm henfield:moo:

Going there this weekend with about 15 other families, hope the weather holds up.

I am not really a camper but I now enjoy it because, a) I have upgraded my tent to a folding camper, much more civilised b) I take my bike. Much more fun now and the kids love it. Blacklands only has a fishing lake, showers and toilet but there is a decent pub 20 minute walk away and South Downs Way cycle route. As there are 15 families going, I am sure I won't get bored!

Cheers for all the links ,will be very useful, as plan on doing lots of glamping this year, which is a major plus with a folding camper, all gear is stored and ready to go, so you can get home from work on a Friday, travel an hour or so and have a great weekend!

You could always cheat and go to Sandy Balls.

I always thought that was the funniest name for a campsite by a long chalk until a mate sent me a postcard from the Australian Outback with the brilliant name of.....Delicate Nobby Camping Ground. Doesn't help the O.P. but thought it might give you a laugh.
On a serious note I like Tom's Field which is Corfe Castle/ Weymouth sort of direction in Dorset

Neither here nor there
I had some great times at Hollands Wood as a kid, even in the years when the toilet blocks and showers were a little spooky.

With a young family of my own now I'd be very happy to camp more often, but we struggle to find a site that suits us perfectly. I've stayed at too many places where you unzip the tent in the morning and wake up to a view of Vauxhalls and England flags, and are serenaded by a tinny CD player late into the night. On the other hand, we want enough people around the place so that the kids can go off with new friends, build camps, play football etc.

These days we tend to head off to France and stay in campsites where tents, log cabins etc are already set up - it takes away some of the aggravation, and there's a better chance of good weather. But I'd like to hear about any UK sites where numbers are restricted, fires are allowed, there isn't a massive waiting list and you feel you are really out in nature, not the car park at Lidl.

england camping:

no fires, and over £20 a night.

unreal and laughable.

be a real man and take your tent and kids into the wild somewhere, away from lego camp sites. if you need electric it is not really camping, and go somewhere close to water :)

Can I refer you to my links above post 84. All of them allow campfires, some of them only have a toilet and standpipe, most of them (if not all) are about £10 per night per adult. All within 1 hours drive of Brighton.

Check out Camping Val de Trie, lovely spacious campsite about 40 mins from Dieppe, very friendly people, bar, swimming pool, fishing lake. When my boy was younger, he absolutely loved it, we went every year. Planning to go later this summer actually. Very near the Baie de la Somme nature reserve, fantastic for bird-watching.

WRONG Bold!!

Kitts Cottage wanted £50 a night for a family of 4 for this w/e. And that was upon enquiry months ago. Profiteering bastards!!

There is a place up North wich has plenty of room. You can always get a spot quite cheap. It's called Selhurst Park.

hence my sentence was 'most' of them...

Bank holiday rates, £15 per adult, £10 per kid is expensive, so I do agree with you! It's normally £80 for a 2 night weekend for a family of 4, which isn't bad really, and they do have solar showers!Kitts Camp Prices

I really like the Kitts Camp site though, and the pub that you get to when you walk through the woods is great, plus Bluebell railway almost next door, in some ways it's probably worth it.

We love camping, but with the comfort of decent blow up mattress, duvet and pillow, weber BBQ, chair tables and powered cool box. Due to Tour de France we have stayed in multiple sites across the country and all of them have been excellent, most towns, villages have a municipal one thats cheap as cheeps and good facilities.

Only once the other year in the Pyrenees did we have an old fella bore like Keith (nuts in may) next to us, he was hard work.

In the UK further afield Robin Hoods Bay was an excellent place to camp especially if you get a pitch at the front with uninterrupted views.

Wow - camping sure is popular - I never knew!
Thought I'd take a look at this weekend, appreciate it's a bank holiday, but EVERYWHERE is fully booked.
Well, found some without a shower, but that's pushing it a little
