Going to Vendee for the first time this summer so hope it proves as good as being said!

Well we had 2 lovely summers there...weather good, food good, drink good (and cheap), most people spoke English but appreciate it if you try to speak French!

For a Two night stay near home try Fairfields campsite nr Pevensey /westham .They have Fishing, Farm animals that you can feed.Pevensey castle is nearby and the smugglers has a good range of beer and kids play area .the beach is about 1 mile walk as is sovereign harbour .£

For a great holiday try Mimizan plage in France. Big waves for surfing nice bars top place for my vw camper it cost about a tenner a night and that includes the use of the 3 pools all nice and showers .Nearby canoeing, kayaking, surfing, cycling, lovelly beaches ,woods ,terrific weather the lot.

:lolol: I think you have put me off! Where did you go?

:lolol: Sorry 'bout that. When the weather is good it is great fun.

Went to a campsite at Washington on the A24 about 15 miles from you. It's quite reasonably priced, relaxed and has good facilities (clean shower block etc). Lots of space so you can kick a ball around or other such activities. Would recommend.

The one up the A24 at Ashurst used to be the best, but they closed a camping field to build Chalets on so the campers are now squeezed into a busy field near the playground and there is not as much room as before. However, it has brilliant facilities (modern shower/toilet block, take away, shop on site etc), so it could be worth checking out.

Just keep an eye on the weather forecast!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Found the name of one of the campsites we stayed in France -
Le Logis du Breuil, St-Augustin-Sur-Mer. Lovely site, nice people, had to cycle or drive to beach though, not within walking distance, but lovely sandy beaches fairly close by.

? slightly contradicts the name of the village?

Any of the New Forest sites really. If you have kids - go to Hollands Wood - there is a massive meadow at the front to play games, and you can walk to Brockenhurst - and there is a fish and chip shop and chinese there if you don't fancy cooking. Take your bikes.

In my computer
We just had a lovely pub lunch for my brother in law's wedding last week back in East Dean (north of Goodwood/Chichester) - at the Star and Garter - aparently just a walk up the road is a delightful camping spot. Not sure what/where it is exactly but camping near by that pub (if you don't have kids) would be the makings of a fab weekend!

A Crack House
The Coopers Arms Public House, Coopers Lane, Crowborough has got a decent site, with fantastic views of The Ashdown Forest. They serve up a decent pint an all. Grubs good as well.

You dont have to book just turn up with your wagon and whatever tent or caravan youve got and away you go.

Very peaceful site with it's own lake you can fish on if you fancy it.
