Grow up. How much of your tax is going towards the funeral? Absolutely minuscule amounts. I tell you what is despicable; the politicians of today not having the gumption to actually stick to their beliefs and convictions. Lady T did what she thought best to put this country back on its feet. Like every human, she made mistakes but at least she had the wherewithal to give it a go in the first place.
This. We vote MPs in to show conviction. She had it!

1p of my tax is too much toward that evil cows funeral. The fact the government are going to pay over £8m on her makes me sick. Particuarly in todays climate.

And the fact her son has enough money he help fund an attempted coup in the oil rich country of Equatorial Guinea.

So what else makes you so sick then, the fact that New Labour followed the same principles and policies to create the current atrocious debt ?

I was talking about us paying for the funeral of someone I despised as you are fully aware, but for the record it did make me sick that Labour followed on the foul Thatcher policies of greed, irresponsible capatilsm, war mongering and schmarming up to the city.

Well I never realised that our, then, Prime Minister, was responsible for General Galtieri of Argentina ordering the invasion of the Falkland Islands, or the Malvinas, as I am sure you would prefer to call them. Many thanks to your senile great aunt for pointing this out.
She blamed Thatcher for creating the circumstances in which Galtieri had the capability to achieve the invasion and believe that he would get away with it. In essence, this was the same view that former prime minister Callaghan had at the time. My great aunt believed that all the deaths that occurred were avoidable and her letter loads the blame entirely on Thatcher's shoulders.

And no, I don't support the claim of Argentina for sovereignty over the Falklands. What gave you the idea that I (or my great aunt) did?

And she was far from senile.

Loving the debates on NSC.

Interesting the 'handwringing' (usually a term applied to the Left) over the celebration of Thatcher's death through a free market consumer purchase is mostly being done by her sympathisers, now cast as the 'moaning minnies'. Similarly, the ones being 'non-PC' by celebrating someone's death are those whose views are usually bracketed as 'politically correct', 'do-gooding' and 'wet.' What delicious irony.

Thanks Wolfie, keep that red flag flying high

Im confused. Or maybe I mean it seems you are? You constantly slag off New Labour but are now saying they followed and continued Thatchers policies? Which you clearly admired greatly? Hmmm you might want to stop digging holes right now.

Lost it big time, if as you advocate the banks should be dismantled as little enclaves of co-operatives the GDP of London would disappear

This is probably worth a thread in itself another time. Many people vote for candidates who they think will listen to and represent the views of their constituency rather than steadfastly follow their personal conviction.

I'm getting bloody sick of the idea that Thatcher somehow invented the concept of economic greed. It's one of the most basic human characteristics that exists. It's basically the American dream, for goodness sake. As for schmarming up to the City, she blew it wide open and removed a lot of the stuffy 'old boys club' attitude, which allowed a lot of people to get jobs there who traditionally wouldn't have had a hope in hell of doing so. I wouldn't call playing a pivotal role in ending the Cold War to be warmongering either.

i should imaging a huge chunk of the cost is for security,a direct result of all the childish f:censored: c:censored: who think it is somehow acceptable to openly celebrate someones death.

any sympathy i had for these so called "persecuted downtrodden" has now vanished hopefully forever.

Where did I say banks should be dismantled? I fear its a bit late for you old fella. Maybe you should call it a night and come back to things in the morning. It might all be a bit easier to make some sense then?

Isn't that why political parties publish policies and manifestos? So the electorate can see the convictions of those who would be their political leaders and representatives. Personally, I don't expect my MP to listen to and act on the views of our constituency because most of the electorate are not informed enough to know what's good for them.

If it wasn't for Thatcher, Paul Weller would not have formed The Style Council.

Thanks, Maggie!

If I liked the tune I would download it from some illegal site. I wish the very best of luck to the middle class kids who support this utter bollox. Your mastery of irony and 79p puts me to shame.

Nope. That presumes people only ever vote for a party. That isn't always true.

Speak for yourself. What about the electorate who are informed enough to know what's good for them?
