Given such a flag might cause others around the flag holder to voice an opposing opinion it might potentially inflame hostilities between fans. Which I assume is the point in their being rules against certain styles of banners in football grounds.

This match is solely for remembering those that lost their lives @ Shoreham. Disgraceful post

This. Remembering the Shoreham victims absolutely must not be clouded or diluted by any other messages, particularly those driven by politicians. Even if every other club (or the league) had signed up to it I would want to the club to be exempted for this match.

Exactly, it has been well publicised that this game is expressly for that and not for publicity points scoring by a bunch of failed politicians

I simply think there is nothing for the club to "sign up" to in this case, particularly if this request is all about a particular politician's bandwagon. Leave it to individuals to speak for themselves and do as they see appropriate.

Agreed 100%......my point was hypothetical. Not expecting to see any individual refugee welcome banners next Saturday though. Not the time or place.

No - on the basis that Yvette Cooper is a f****** imbecile.

Does no-one remember the occasion when the Falmer For All team saturated the Millennium Stadium with banners?

The Hull match is dedicated to the Shoreham air disaster and nothing should detract from that, but I needed to point out that Yvette Cooper was very involved in getting Falmer planning permission through.

Sorry - I meant her husband Ed Balls :)

pretty sad that politicians want to use this issue for political manoeuvres, especially ignoring that a large number of the people do not want to welcome refugees, for a range of reasons.

i dont understand why we are not making more of the fact we are spending a great deal of aid to the refugee camps in the region, taking a large number of priority asylum claims, and accept that this is our reasonable response to the situation instead of blindly accepting all refugees that may (or may not) be trying to claim asylum here.

Very good point, where were the German doctors in Sierra Leonne fighting Ebola, how much does Germany spend on overseas aid? This request/call has no place in any sporting event, especially when called for by a politician. Somehow, the death of the little boy washed up on the beaches of a greek island has become emotionally attached to the immigration debate in Europe, these issues are far apart.
Generously there are those offering accommodation in their homes to Syrian immigrants, whilst we have many homeless and lonely people in our own country, I am amazed that the pictures and footage ( coincidently caught by both a pap and television cameras at a random spot on a greek beach) have created such a reaction when such occurences are happening everyday somewhere in the world and even in our country with the unnecessary death of young children.
