Actually, I don't think this is that daft an idea. He is an absolute unit and would provide us a presence in both boxes and would be good for CMS when we want to mix it up. He would be cheap to buy and his wages wouldn't be huge. Obviously he's not what we want ideally but hey, we need a plan B and call me crazy, but it doesn't get more plan B than Calvin Zola!

I just dropped Gus a note saying speculation is he's going for a really frigging stupid plan B, gave him my number, told him to call me and I'll dubbin me boots and show up at training later :lolol:

With respect, are you a 6foot POWERHOUSE, BARRELchested with the first name Calvin? One word, f***ing DEMON.

It may be irrational, but I would love Calvin Zola in a Brighton shirt. I remember his debut for Crewe against us and I thought he WAS football.

TBF mate I know very little about him other than what I read on him before posting. Joking aside having seen us waste a spot on Vokes and BDB I just hope we don't do the same again, it could be the ruination of our season. It's going to be a key signing and hope he gets it right

I think that Zola would be a lot more effective than either of them, purely because he's not under the illusion that he's a footballer. Someone seemed to tell Paynter that he was good with his feet, and that he wasn't just a lump. He is. As for Vokes, I think there is talent there. But he needs to play regular football and to do that, I think he needed to drop into league 1. Play every game and see what happens, a bit like Ched Evans. Never prolific in the Championship but he dropped into League 1, was the main man at Sheffield United and smacked them in all over the place.
