Now out with injury until early APRIL. His injury record is horrific

Worthwhile making the comparison, as we signed Danny Wellbeck just after this thread started. Less wages, no hefty transfer fee.

Callum Wilson 18 goals in 39 appearances
Danny Wellbeck 9 goals in 35 appearances

Who got the better deal?

We did because Toon have been more reliant on Wilson than we have on Welbeck, transfer fees apart

Both are big losses when injured

DW one goal every 213 minutes
Wilson one goal every 181 minutes

Difference? Yes, but quite limited.

If Brighton had the same strategy as Newcastle, "give the ball to this specific guy and hope he stays fit and in form at all times", I think Welbeck or Maupay could have scored similar amounts of goals and that Brighton would have a similar league position as Newcastle.

New contract for him at Newcastle making him in line with the top earners at the club and also the highest paid sick note in the Premier League
