Does anyone on here own a Galaxy Ace or HTC Wildfire? What do you think of them generally?

If given the chance, would you trade it in for something better?

Cheers,

The O/H has a Galaxy Ace. It's repeatedly called "A piece of shit". It has got all the Orange crap on it though, so I will be putting a custom ROM on it soon.

I'd probably steer clear as the internal storage is punny and half the apps can't be moved to SD Card. She wishes she'd paid the extra and got the S2.

Ive recently moved over from a blackberry to the Galaxy Ace, yeah it is never going to be as good as the S3 but it works a treat. Nice and simple to use and no problems what so ever. I find them much easier to use than a HTC.

Well I've come across something that I thought I might put the way of some fellow NSCers. Any of you lot free Wednesday morning next week for a market research session*? I'd need to check a few aspects first, the age range I need is 18-35 - but there's the chance you could all walk away with a brand new phone at the end of the morning. If you're interested, or you know someone with a Galaxy Ace/HTC Wildfire S let me know!

*not really market research but a laugh with free food. Should take a couple of hours.

Go for the wildfire s and not a wildfire. I had a wildfire and it was so slow like 3 seconds behind you actually touching the screen. The Wildfire s is so much better

Rubbish. I had a Wildfire for 2 years, it was excellent and very responsive. The Wildfire S will obviously be better with a slightly quicker processor, but my Wildfire ran perfectly well with no lag on touching the screen, and was 100% reliable.

I've just recently upgraded to a HTC One S, which is, I have to say, a LOVELY bit of kit. I likes me HTC's, they're very well made.

This plus after a year of having it I have to charge the battery every day.

Cheers,

I had an HTC (not a Wildfire) and it was undoubtably the worst mobile phone I have ever had - it was total crap.

so if that helps at all .....

Had the Galaxy Ace for just over a year and can't fault it. Simple, reliable piece of kit.

Market research you say? For owners of 2 types of phone? ??? Intrigued.

Rubbish. I had the wildfire for over 2 years and although the screen didn't lag everything else did! Battery was crap as well. Samsung S2 now and the difference is like night and day.

Well I had 2 trouble-free years with my Wildfire. No its not the most powerful of smartphones, but then I wasn't after a top-of-the-range jobbie. Everyhing I used it for (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Wordsmith, camera, football scores) was absolutely fine, so for a budget smartphone I couldn't fault it. I never really used it for animated games, so if it was a bit slow for those I'd be firmly in the 'meh' camp. As for batttery life, I'd get 2 days out of it with medium usage. It was just a case of ensuring Background Data was always disabled, and the other bells & whistles (GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi etc) switched off and activated as & when required. Peasy.

I've had a Wildfire since they came out - I really like the simplicity of it and the Android apps. My only gripe is they aren't tough enough. I'm on my third replacement handset - once was a mystery, just froze. Second screen cracked and the very top of the touchscreen didn't respond to touch, so I had to tilt it to text etc - so in it went. Third I was getting out of the car and dropped the phone from my pocket a distance no more than two feet onto fairly fresh tarmac - fell right on the 'on' button and jammed it, phone was a right off again.

I like HTC, but might go over to the dark side next upgrade and get an iPhone, can't be arsed with using shitty Nokia courtesy phones while my real phone is in the sick bay - that's it, HTC are the Darren Anderton of mobile phones.

So two out of the three HTC's, you dropped. Maybe you've been a bit unlucky in not getting away with it, but percussion will often have an adverse effect on a phone and its screen. Do you not put your phone in a cover ? The nice man at Phones 4U gave me a free £20 one for my HTC One S.
