Given the recent story of the disabled lady who had her dog stolen outside ASDA marina and the fantastic work from a member of staff who found it! And given that outside of London we have one of the highest levels of dog theft in the country, either sold on for easy money or worse, used as fodder and target practise to train fighting dogs!

I'm posting a link to a government petition that is so close to getting over the line for debate.

Super quick and easy to sign and if you do many thanks!

Reclassify the theft of a pet to a specific crime in its own right.

And there was me thinking the UK was a civilised country.
I had no idea that this sort of thing went on.

I once waited with a lurcher who'd been tied to a railing on Western Road on a busy Saturday afternoon. When the owner came back, I tried to tell her not to tie up her dog in the street, but we were both very British about it. I had a rictus smile, trying not to be unpleasant, and she had a rictus smile that said, 'Eff off and don't tell me what to do with my dog.' But hopefully she won't do it again.

She actually admitted that, as she'd walked away after tying it up, she'd thought to herself, 'I hope nobody steals her.' :ffsparr:
