Calderwood to Villa

Wonder how long his notice period is? 3 months I expect. We will definitely keep him on garden leave to his full notice period expires. Therefore Villa won't have an assistant manager til mid Feb. hardly ideal for them. Trollope would have been able to start straight away. Still, we can now get Trollope in straight away as replacement due to CC's resignation. Doesn't CH know him well and respect him? No compensation to pay to get him in. Of course CC will be a loss but I expect our defensive record is more down to having two CBs as strong as Dunk and Duffy, not CCs coaching.

We can & will replace him but we will probably have to give his replacement a different job title because until CC has served his notice period he is still our assistant manager.
So I would imagine we would recruit a Head coach or club coach.

He went from caretaker manager to assistant
manager to first team coach.

I call that being edged out.

Not the case at all - left with a heavy heart and loved BHA. And the city. And yes I do know all that for a fact.

This is the thing, we can all be morally outraged if we want but the simple fact is nobody knows the full story.

I feel that timing and circumstances reveal more than is evident. If it were two weeks later then a lot of shoulders would simply be shrugged with a hey-ho. Tonight? Really?

I don't think it's worry as such, but you've got to admit that the timing stinks. I think that's the main concern rather than losing an assistant.

I wouldn't say it's a concern. Unfortunate and dissapointing timing especially the day before a game vs Villa but these things happen! He will be going nowhere near the Villa job for the next few months by the looks of it so not fussed on that score.

Let's be positive. New (assistant) manager bounce to kick in shortly. Should be worth..............................9 points perhaps?

Not necessarily, can easily be released, bought out etc.

This. Not going to crucify him until the full story comes out.
Surely his contract can only be bought out if we allow it. Otherwise he remains a BHA employee. Must be a sensible option to keep him for as long as we can and let fat boy Bruce have to do two men's jobs for as long as possible!

If CC has gone, let Albion show what a mistake he's made by beating Villa on Friday night.
Negative to a positive :)

Why? We can employ as many assistant managers as we like; there's no rule that says we can only have one.

Approach Derby for Chris Powell.

How did we do when Colin was ill?

Interesting. Powell isn't a stranger to us. I believe not too long ago he was at our training ground possibly observing training if I recall correctly - something to do with coaching badges I think.

tbh I've always thought he's a ****. When he punched Karanka at boro it summed up the man imho...

Let's not change history, it was the Boro GK coach, and he got stuck in, as they were stopping us getting to the ball to take a throw in.

I like that sort of passion and hope the next appointment is as keen.

If someone has handed in their notice you can replace them straight away. It's hardly constructive dismissal if we are taking necessary action to replace an employee who has resigned.

Terse statement from the club suggests that all is not well and that the parting hasn't exactly been amicable, though obviously one cannot be sure. However, we normally have such things as thanks for all the hard work etc, which is conspicuous by its absence.

I assume the statement had to be rushed out due to the rumors, however, if he was "kicked out" the club 5 days ago you would have thought something would have been prepared ready for release

Do you just say stuff like this so that, should it happen again, you can puff your chest up and say "I told you so" ?
