My view on this would be that just as the Championship is going to be a considerable test for the players, so it is for Gus. Leicester and last night apart, the start to the season has been amazing. However, a few points of criticism doesn't mean one is questioning Gus's ability to do the job. One of my concerns has been the defence. Yes, they made a fine start, but some of them need a rest, particularly Dunk. Greer's lack of pace has been heavily exposed at times, for example when Murray got away last night, and at Cardiff, where Dunk had to step in to rescue the situation, and Painter is getting passed by fast wingers far too easily for my liking; Zaha virtually walked past him for Palace's second goal. This was something that should have been worked on in the summer, and surely has to be sorted in January. Tanno is clearly not adequate cover for the full backs, as he can only last two thirds of a game. Yes, I think Cook should have started last night.
