Not all footballers are stupid, and I fail to believe the average one gets completely taken in by their agent. Don't let the players off the hook here.

Don't forget that Calderon hasn't had them as agents for that long. He came to this country and probably listened to what they said. If he sacked them and approached Poyet then I don't see what the problem is.

Not true, IMHO. He never actually turned down our offer, but he refused to accept it in the given timeframe. We are now even further outside of that timeframe, so there's no way Gus would accept him signing on those same terms. Won't happen.

I am SO SO glad that I was so spectacularly wrong.

I'm still of the opinion it sends out the wrong message - that's assuming that Saints have given up on him. If it's as reported in the Argus that he's turned down a better deal to sign with us then it probably does strengthen his position!
