"I want to thank Calde because he helped us a lot.

"Unfortunately I'm very disappointed because he has chosen to wait for an offer from Southampton and not to sign for us with everything agreed.

"The disappointment is big. Everything was agreed.

"It was only the contract to sign but he decided to wait for a possible offer from another club in this division.

"The club is Southampton, who we cannot compete with.

"We clarified a few weeks ago that if somebody thinks we are the Chelsea or Manchester City in the division, we are not. That is Southampton.

"If they are going to buy the players and pay more than the rest there is nothing we can do about it.

"We have withdrawn the offer.

"We don't accept players agreeing contracts and not signing.

"We are a proper club and he had until midnight yesterday but the offer is gone and he is not going to be our player.

"I can promise you that."
Pity about Inigo.

However... this just makes me like Gus even more. Top bloke.

Why is everyone getting so worked up by it? We made an offer, Calderon wanted more money, we didnt think he was worth it, he moved on.

I fail to see what either party has done to be called 'wankers', 'judas' etc.

Its called BUSINESS.

He will be missed as he was quality and I wish we could have held on to him but it obviously wasnt meant to be!!

I agree it's business but just goes against the grain that we/Gus have brought him over here from some crappy Spanish lower league club (where he wasnt even playing!) introduced him to English football, got him fit, given him an opportunity and he's thrown it back at us.

I have no idea why but I though he may have had more respect than that.

Dissapointing for the club and dissapointing for Gus.

Just one more reason to hate Southampton though!

 SPOT ON.

Im going to do a large shit right in the reception of St. Marys next season. I will then label it FAO Alan Pardew.

Lets face it at Southampton he will-

-Get paid more
-Play at a much better stadium
-Get promoted

True, but he will have to work with a bunch of money grabbing arseholes & be supported by inbred 6 fingered twats.
Thanks in advance for the 6 points.

-Unlikely...we could match anything Southampton could offer....if we wanted to....having a player who wants to play for the team is more important
-For one year....Falmer will make St Marys look like Withdean
-I doubt it.....that's what Leeds thought and it took them 3 years to get out of this league.

Maybe Wilco popped round for a drink and tapped him up. I wonder what Debs has to say about that!

I'm gutted that Inigo has gone/is going, but this is a perfect example of why I love Gus.

In the Championship year after next.......

How can people get so wound up about a right back moving on to a better bigger club......?

If someone offered you a payrise up the road with more chances of progression, you would take it.

Get over it.

But i take it he is good then? :)

Progression by cheating. You must be proud. We'll be back for another 3 points next season. Good luck getting promoted with Pardew in charge :lolol:
