It is a tricky one. I guess it's true to say that no matter how lovely their personality is, if they look like the back of a bus, you will always be giving it the "I love you, really, but more like a brother" line.

If I was being totally honest, I would say face first and then hope that they have a nice personality or at least look as though there's a chance of changing the bits you don't like

Just saying I like nice big eyes. The eyes can tell a lot about people. You can see if they are actually listening to you, or if not interested at all. If someone looks at your eyes when you are talking to them, that is also very nice!
