Just seen all the goals on SSN, and Smith had a fault to play in EVERY one of them.

Surely a new loan 'keeper will be coming in before 5PM on Thursday so the Jocko Clown (TCB copywritten) can f*** off.

Usually I have to HOUND other goalies out and go overboard with the Michel worship. With our Graeme it's totally different. He does all the hard work and I just sit back and watch you all agree that Michel is a god. Great stuff.

Sadly a God who, like Aladin's Lamp, needs his working parts rubbed in order for them to work properly at the moment. Said with feeling, not malice.

I agree with you about the Jockanese ball chaser though. About as much use as Stevie Wonder's Sunglasses.

Whether the actual individual goals are his fault or not and to be honest a lot of them have been, he does not command his area or marshall his defence and that in turn leads to conceding goals. On his performances so far he is by far the worst keeper I have seen in an Albion shirt for a very long time. I really can't see that changing, sorry Smithy but you ain't good enough at this level. The SPL must really be shite.

Worst goalkeeper I,ve seen play for Brighton in 46 years.

He was absolutely shocking tonight. I don't think the defence could look him in the eye after his calamitous performance.

Hopefully St Mirren will sign him in January to team up with Thompson.

Thank god we did not spend any money on him.

he is not helped by the joke that is in front and which has obviously shattered his confidence, but he just doesnt look up to the task

its important to remember though just because he is obviously shit, it doesnt elevate kuipers to some sort of god level, as he has made his fair share of cock ups this season. having said that, the quicker he is back the better, as we really miss him at the minute

To be fair, the back four did pretty well overall, and have improved immensely in just the 4 games that Gus has been in charge.

However, it was clear from the second minute that we might just as well have not bothered having a goalkeeper. There were several times that the defence expected Smith to come.........who started....stopped...thought about it.........and then finally wandered back to his line.........to pick the ball out of the net.

the back four did pretty well?! sorry, i have to disagree - especially from set pieces. how many times did they have free headers from corners and set pieces, especially in the second half? summed up by elphick sticking one in himself

smith's lack of command of the area is obviously a massive problem and the sooner kuipers is back the better, but the defence know he is short of confidence and they have to help him out by dealing with things without leaving it to a potential laurel and hardy mix up

el abd at left back means that bennet has to switch to the left wing early on in the game to help him cover, which then takes our best attacking option away as he is pre-occupied with defending duties, and when he does get forward he is forced more often than not to cut inside, which means quick attacks break down and the opposition defence can re-organise

we cant go around conceding as many as we have so far this season and expect to get results - obviously it is unlikely to improve with smith in goal, but the problem is far deeper than the goalkeeper

To be fair to Smith, from what I saw tonight the back four were about as useful as a soggy shit stained slice of toilet roll.

Absolutely agree....shot to pieces after the Huddersfield game and now, a complete liability.

Smith is absolutely dire in every respect. Why oh why did we let Sullivan go?

The whole defence needs changing. Whing in particular, Elphick and Tunni have not been good enough. El Abd is the only one who emerges with any credit from last night's debacle.

What a load of nonsense?
Southampton - conceed 1
Wycombe - clean sheet because they didnt have a shot
Leeds - conceed 3
Norwich - conceed 4

Averaging conceeding 2 a game. that doesnt tell half the story with the complete inept defending. - Dribbling the ball across our own goal and getting tackled. Not marking in set pieces. Free shots on goal from any angle, comedy own goals, a dodgy keeper. Backing off attackers when they get in our half and letting them run into our box with out a challenge. The list goes on...

No improvement what so ever.....yet

So where are all the people who were DEMANDING Smith replace Kuipers a few weeks ago? Funny how things change isn't it?

Without wishing to break up the Smith hate-athon you have to look at what is front of him as well. Granted the first goal his positioning was shocking but what the hell was Whing doing? The second, give the ball away on our own box and let there player just stroll through. 3rd bugger know what went on there but it didn't look pretty on the highlights. 4th was like we were saying here Mr take a shot we don't want to try and tackle you.
Until our back 4 stop backing off and actually getting stuck in we will continue to let some in, Whing has looked a liability since he came back. Personally would go 5 in midfield with Navarro in front of the back 4 to give them a bit of protection and he is not afraid to get a tackle in.

To be fair Bruno, the defence was OUTSTANDING against Southampton.

Not really if Soton had taken their chances, which they should have, that would have been another 3 or 4 we let in.
