I'm sure the Ferrari mad Monza fans will be very happy an Italian driver is in the driving seat.
Step forward Lewis Hamilton.

Be interesting to see how quickly he gets to grips with the car, I doubt there is anyway he will end up last on the grid, like Badoer has, though.

Good move, a very good and underestimated driver

I bet Toni Liuzzi does better in a Force India than Badoer did in a Ferrari, too!

It'll be funny if Force India beat the Italians in their own back yard, but I can't see it. Fisi is one of those unsung good drivers who's never been in the right place at the right time. I hope he does well - even though I don't generally like seeing Ferraris winning.

Like when he partnered Alonso 2005 and 2006? Alonso won both Championships and 267 points, whereas Fisi collected just 2 wins and 130 points.

Good driver, but not top drawer IMO

Fisi, much like Trulli has often had good qualifying pace, but too often been unable to perform on race day. He's always seemed like a "good bloke" though and I was delighted for him and force india last weekend.
Clearly Badoer wasn't up to it and I'm sure Fisi will do a much better job. The only downer for him is that Ferrari have frozen development of this years car to concentrate on next years which could see the scarlet cars slipping towards the wrong end of the grid again.

I would imagine everyone but Brawn and Red Bull are now looking towards next years car, with minimal development on the current car? BMW are quitting and quite possibly Toyota. Personally expect Ferrari, McClaren and Renault to remain reasonably competitive without doing much else to the cars.

Agree re Fisi, he generally qualifies better than he races, last w/e was a big exception though. Gonna be interesting to see how he does.

I'm not sure car development or lack of will really stop with anyone,as the 2009 aero rules are the same as they have been this year so any evolutions will still be of use next season. Contrast that with last year where McLaren and Ferrari's world championship push meant they were way behind the pace early this season.

Good luck to him, and he's on an easy winner here because all he basically has to do to be considered a (comparative, at least) success at this is to do better than Luca Badoer, which I think most of the population of this board would have a fair shot at.

I wonder, though, what his plans are longer term? Massa has talked of returning at this season's Brazilian GP, but even if he doesn't he'll surely be back for next season. Does Fisi already have something lined up for next season or is he planning to use this as something of a shop window for himself?

Ferarri have confirmed him as the reserve driver for next season, you should see the pics of him in his Ferrari gear on BBC website - Talk about the cat who has got the cream!!

Sounds like Fisi will be Ferrari's reserve driver for 2010.
