I have 100's of vinyl records in my loft ( including loads of 12" mixes from my raving days ) and have not played them for almost 30 odd years.

Need advice on buying a turntable with speakers on a budget of max £300. Is that enough and what would you advise?

There are a few second hand specialists around, who could put something together for you based on your budget. Obviously you’ll not get a 12 month warranty, but you might get a nice set up of older, but better gear.
Richer Sounds are good, but £300 won’t go far for a decent turntable, amp, speakers and possibly a pre-amp(if required)

A friend did this with a similar budget recently. Got a Cambridge A4 amp and a pair of Wharfdale diamond 9 speakers from eBay for about £150 and then got a new turntable with a preamp from Richer sounds for about £150. I had some spare cable but I guess about £30 would cover that.

If your budget suffices, get a Rega Planar 1 turntable. Quality entry level.

Yeah, I wouldn't endorse the sound quality to anybody who's into such things, but when I was a student I got together a turntable, pre-amp and stereo together from charity shops and gumtree (or one of those websites anyway). About 13 years ago now but I doubt the total for everything topped £100.

Only things I bought new were the stylus and pre-amp, and it works fine and sounds fine.

Saved all my money to spend on the 5 for £10 deal at the second hand record shop around the corner.

I bought a Pro-Ject Debut III a few years back, which is a tidy little table, but that was to plug into my existing system.

For a £300 budget you are probably going to be looking in the second hand market if you are looking for turntable, amp, and speakers. Though, as others have said, pay a visit to Richer Sounds and get some advice, and have a listen to a few setups to see what you like.
