Daughter is considering a purchase ready for uni next september ....What do the voices of NSC recommend
I suggest you walk into a computer shop hand over your cash, take laptop home and away you go. Any problems turn it off and on again
Both my kids recently purchased Toshiba ones for £400 each which seem perfectly adequate however I suspect your daughter may need word / excel as well so would have to be added to cost or just download from a recovery CD ?
So we should expect laptop deaths in around May 2009 - yikes

Go to PC World...
is the WRONG answer...unless you're browsing and checking them out, then buy online!
Go to PC World...I'd suggest waiting until the summer end by which time new models will drive some great bargains. Also, you can get a student package and support deal at PC World which means dead Toshibas won't be a problem.
