Today is the day we realise how good he is, if anybody hasnt already, when he is replaced by either Button or Steele neither of whom are top Championship keepers. I am not sure which I prefer in fact I would consider the loan back of Stockdale who if fit and not overweight is better than both of those.

Good kick on him, as someone said already. Looked shaky and a few times he had reassuring slaps, nods and winks from Stephens, Dunk and Duffy to try and settle him..

Does he look like he could challenge Maty for his shirt? Absolutely no way on todays showing, but.. with game time who knows? I'm not convinced, though. He was very well protected today, and if his howler had turned into a goal - and a loss, I wouldn't want to be reading this forum if I was him!

Feck me, that was a tester, that could have easily gone very badly.

Still think he’s shaky, but other than the fumble he did well and made one very good save.

I think the one in the first half, he would have been disappointed to let in..... but he dealt with it adequately.

He was well protected but he dealt with some horrible back passes and a couple of stupid mistakes by Duffy and Stephens that would've cost us on another day. One mistake aside early on, I thought he looked calm, made good saves and his distribution was very solid. I'd happily have him as our number 2 based on that. Although the next home game is Liverpool so...

As for the rest, he was excellent and kept a justified clean sheet with a performance that'll have Aussie Mat looking over his shoulder.

Button sounds as though he sewed up our goal by keeping a clean sheet.

Steele will get his chance to show his mettle in the FA cup.

Yes, he zipped about the box nicely, knitted the back four together on occasions, and was the lynch pin of our defence. I was feeling a bit crochetty before the game but thanks to Button, I left with a pocket full of joy.

Didn't look his fault to me..

He has to play against wet sham and then Bournemouth to get confidence before the Liverpool game.

He was better than I thought he was going to be as well.

Button will be quietly satisfied with his performance. A couple of regulation saves, decent distance on his kicks and a well judged clearance when out of his box late on.

One heart in mouth moment, but I think the North Stand did well to get behind him and he seemed to grow in confidence after that
