Butt out... No Replacement

Results of scan reveal medial knee ligament damage suffered after a knock in training yesterday and will be out for 3-4 weeks.

England to ask for possible replacement.

waste of time taking him anyway in my book.

Id be amazed if we were allowed a replacement.

Bring Defoe out if we can though.

England's request for a replacement for Nicky Butt has been rejected by UEFA as there is no exceptional reason for a call up.

can you only replace a player if he is injured??

if so i wouldnt be suprised if sven 'by accident' hit emile in the face with a snooker cue and forcing him to fall through the glass table and the piano top to fall on his head. the defoe can come in!

oh and about butt. thats really annoying! he is a quality player and our only real defensive midfielder. im not sure if parker would come in. maybe gareth barry! yay!

A UEFA spokesman has just been on Sky Sports News (English BTW), only if a squad had 1 fit GK can a replacement be called up or if an injury occured before the squads first game. Current talk is Ledley King may take over Butt's defensive midfield duty if required!

In fairness either Gerrard or Hargreaves are capable of playing as a deep midfielder.

Those rules are fine as long as it is the same for everyone.

BBC:

Nicky Butt's knee injury looks set to rule him out for the rest of Euro 2004.

A scan has confirmed the Manchester United midfielder sustained medial ligament damage in training on Monday.

An FA spokesman said: "This sort of injury normally sidelines you for three or four weeks so it's unlikely he will play again in the tournament."
