Watching the Manchester United game on Sky just now and Martin Tyler gave a big mention to Bursaspor's Intertoto Cup match against Wimbledon in 1995 at the Goldstone.

Did anyone go to it? I thought it was actually Spurs that played at the Goldstone that summer in the Intertoto but memory must be playing tricks. ???

I went to two of these games I am sure. One was Spurs full of trialists. There was an enormous UEFA flag flying in the old away stand.

Yep both teams played their games at The Goldstone that year. Cant remember why though.

I went to the Wimbledon game. It was the only Goldstone game I left at half time.

This month's When Saturday Comes has an article on the Intertoto cup, part of which talks about these Goldstone games.

There's a couple of (very small) Goldstone photos. One featuring the dugout and west terrace with Albion, Wimbledon and Liverpool (!) shirts on display.

Went to the Wimbledon (loads of nutty Turks in the West Stand) and the Spurs game (big Spurs turnout I recall).

Recall Albion got a five figure sum for hosting the games. Seem to remember it being a forced condition that two English top flight teams had to go into the Inter-Toto for some reason. Spurs side were certainly made up of a rag tag makeshift side.
