I’ve still got my VALID rail ticket for the Norwich away fixture for 2019/20 season. According to Anglia Trains they won’t refund my money but I can use the ticket for future travel. Let’s see when the time comes eh? ???

I got my refund from for that AGES ago

There's a big difference between 2000 fans with tickets travelling, watching the game and coming home and thousands travelling down without tickets, crowding the pubs and streets and then all travelling back and not even going to the game.

This is true but its not just 2000 fans, it'll be 20,000+ fans over that weekend without the other leagues.

Of course I realise that many home fans travel miles to go to home matches but I can't see away fans being allowed to travel for a while

The difference is that PL away fans won't travel unless they have a ticket. There is no mechanism to stop travel within England for any reason.

Ah, but did you BOOK it with Anglia? I got a decent deal going from Liverpool Street to Naarrwich and back. :drink:

I did, they wouldn't reply to start with then they changed the rules a week or so later when it was clear nobody was going to be travelling for a while - advance fares as well

What what with the (expected) news of football stadiums back to full capacity in August, has anyone found any Burnley train ticket deals yet?

I'd hold your horses if l were you, back to full capacity for home fans one hopes, but if you are travelling away that may still be a no no for the time being.

Away fans just means many thousands more people unnecessarily travelling the length and breadth of the country every weekend taking and transmitting the virus with them as they go. I'd be surprised if we are at full capacities without at least some other measure in August and that will include double vaccination or proof of negative test. The only way I can forsee away audiences permitted to travel is if they are in official bubbles straight to and from the stadia on organised trips.

I think the double vaccination will apply but can't see them imposing a bubble. Clubs could include in fans profiles details of proven vaccinations (they only need to check it once) and only sell away tickets to those that meet the criteria.

Let's not start to get greedy. Just getting back to a full capacity Amex in August will be more than enough for me for now. Baby steps, but we will get back to travelling away again eventually.

No, and just too make matters worse the line up to.Leeds is closed so you have to go via Manchester.

Double-jabbed or negative test I reckon, at the most - can’t really have stricter rules on travelling to events in the uk than for people going abroad on holiday. As for the actual travel people will be commuting to work in much greater numbers by then too. Bubbles won’t exist.

All the while people are watching the Euros with 40-60 thousand people in Wembley yet we are still restricted on how many visitors we are allowed in our houses to watch the game on tv the government’s rules make less and less sense. Same for Wimbledon - especially when they close the roof. Reckon by mid-July pretty much all restrictions will be removed as it will be virtually impossible for the government to do anything else.

The difference is that there are vaccine checks at both Wembley and Wimbledon or you have to prove negative test within 48hrs before gates opening. I'm guessing but I might be wrong that most households don't have those checks!!!

Yes - I agree with that; I suppose I was talking more about compliance. As people see more and more crowds of thousands on their tv screens the willingness to keep complying with a myriad of micro-restrictions like rules of 6 etc will just go out the window. The train has well and truly left the station so far as getting the population as a whole to stick to the rules. To be honest, I don’t even know what they are anymore.

Wembley, Wimbledon and the GB Grand Prix (full capacity at 140k) are all part of the country’s test events programme. Having your mates round for a beer to watch the match is not. As someone else has said it’s all baby steps to hopefully further easings on 19 July as more and more people are vaccinated and with the delta variant not impacting on our life’s too greatly despite its transmission risk being quite easy.
