Absolute madness. Where will he go to exactly? Burnley interest is gone, Aston Villa? The side 20 points behind us in a race to the division he wants to play in?

I've seen enough of us this season, last season and the season before to know the difference Stephens makes to how we function as a 442.

It's like some people want us to **** it up again.
I have also seen a player in demand elsewhere.... a player that wants to move further north, a player who has looked a little jaded in the last few months... and not because he is knackered either.

Just because I think he will go, doesn't mean I want us to cockk up the season.

You should charge Burnley fans rent on here during transfer windows
Bozza would have to set up a weekly direct debit, as they're unlikely to pay the full asking price up front.

I'd imagine he's happy to stay for the rest of this season and if we get promoted sign a new deal, if not he'll leave in the summer most likely.

I think the club are okay for this to be the case as well.

I'd add to that I would think he'd want to stay and be part of winning something whether that is the league or just promotion. From his body language and attitude on the pitch he's clearly a big part of the togetherness and team spirit in the squad. Why wouldn't he want to stay and win something significant with his team mates. I'd be amazed if he went now unless he's offered ridiculous money and are Burnley the team to do that when they only increase bids for him by 50p every time they make an approach

Quite a few of our players are in demand elsewhere.

a player that wants to move further north

The same rumour that has been circulating before he moved 70 miles south to Brighton.

a player who has looked a little jaded in the last few months... and not because he is knackered either.

Been watching a different player to me then. I've been watching Dale Stephens, the one putting his foot in and throwing his weight around all over the pitch. Are you suggesting that CH has not noticed this lack of effort either, or that he deems the player so crucial that he plays him regardless?

A big bid will be very tempting particularly if Dale really wants to go.

We seem to be linked with a lot of midfielders already this window - Judge, Lampard, L-Creek - and the uncertainty over Kayal has gone.

£8 million EARLY in the window has to be slightly attractive to the albion if Dale wants the move.

Stephens is our best midfielder it's as simple as that. Both our defeats came with him not being in the team. We simply cannot let him go and i'm confident we won't
It seems so wrong for a Brighton fan to write that without it be weighed down by sarcasm and irony.

That's a sentence for August, not January.

He is a key player... never said he wasn't, but he is not signing a contract, he is doing enough to keep his profile up, but I don't think he is as dynamic as he was... I think he wants out.

Only Hughton would know if we could let him go or not. With Kayal returning we also have Sidwell, Norwwod and Towell so we seem well covered for his departure if it came to it. Even Rosenior could probably do a job in midfield so we have five options without Stephens.

If we did sell him it would be for the right reasons and it wouldn't break our season.

We don't want players who ca 'do a job'.

We want to keep our best players and get promoted.

The money Bloom would get for Stephens is peanuts compared to promotion.

If he wants to go and we can get 8m plus then let him go. Would rather have someone who wants to play for us.

Mr Pedant...... we'll see

Its not really being pedantic ... from what ive seen I would disagree that over the last couple of months he has been any less the player than last season ..despite that he's not playing alongside Kayal....but as you say we will see
