How do you know when the evidence was sent to the CPS? How do you know how many times the evidence was requested but not in time for disclosure?
Just read the really pissed off magistrates answer to that.
How do you know and lets be real here. You are a prosecutor and you are gathering evidence in a stadium with cameras everywhere and police with body cams and you dont go to them first. You cant just present it at the last minute and expect to get away with it. They considered they had enough evidence to take it to court before pulling this out of their magic hat so why even bother. Just smacks of arrogant stupidity.

How do I know? I know how many jobs have been cut on both sides, both at the police station and at the CPS. I know how stretched both sides are with 50% of the magistrates courts closing, and lack of time for reviewing, and getting disclosure to the defence.
Thank God I am retired now, because it is almost impossible to do a decent job any more in the justice system.
I have sypathy with that but dont lose what is important you have to at least let the defence see what you are throwing at them.
Edit to add I am from the generation that you burnt all your bridges when there were no cuts

The police have been pretty much anti the government of the last 9 years - pay constraint and their numbers cut.

However if you did want to make a political point against the Tories for this you could point to the massive cuts in funding across the entire public sector .... which you generally don't notice on a day to day level ..... until something happens to you

I'm not saying they did no wrong but a court of law couldn't prove they did so what grounds do Burnley have to ban them?

Plenty have been banned at the Amex without court convictions. They got off on a technicality as the CPS/police screwed up. If the video evidence is there they racially abused Bong they should be banned by Burnley FC.
