I never understand that view.

All matches are worth the same number of points, but come the end of the season these are potentially the matches we look back upon with the most regret.

Its the opposition that matters, not the date.

No - it’s what you interpret as ‘must win’ that matters, not the opposition. It’s a silly phrase really. The point is, at the end of the season there’s mathematically ‘must win’ games for some teams. It’s an overly-used unclear expression in football I find. You have no way of knowing where Burnley will finish so by your logic cannot call this a must win also...

Two strikers for Burnley, both ex Brighton, both good at heading, no Dunk, so we’re bound to lose.

Maybe a good reason for keeping Sanchez in the team then - a big lad (almost 6 inches taller than Ryan), who likes to come out and command his area.

Based on the hullabaloo after the West Brom game, the players know they blew it. Both teams are going to be up for it with either side nicking a goal.

I can't figure out what has gone wrong with team this season. Lots of good football with lots of praise from neutrals yet we lose or don't win and you think "How the f*%k did that happen!"

Is it really all down to bad luck? Or is it something deeper. Looks to be a combination for me:

1) Bad luck in games - (Man U for starters and the penalties for Palace and Spurs)
2) Not putting more of our chances away - lost count the ones that Maupay has missed in different games plus Dunk's header against Man U, and the March miss (hit crossbar) in the same game.
3) Not concentrating properly when defending - Webster losing Bale, White was it that allowed Grant to score? And allowing DCL to score, and Ryan not saving some of the shots he would have normally got to.

So we are in a rut due to a combination of all of the above. Potter is going to have to show what a good Manager he is in resolving 2 and 3 and just hope lady luck starts smiling on us soon.

By definition then, this is not a 'must win' game - but we'll all be bloody miserable if we don't.

Like to see Alzate and Bissouma play and give Alexis a game if GP likes to change things around .Solly might be injured ? Are Burnley a long ball team still putting the ball into area`s for Barnes and Wood to scrap for ? I have not seen much of them this season .

The idea is not to have must-win games vs Arsenal and Man City at the end of the season. So to get the points in advance we really must win against Burnley at home especially after not winning vs West Brom.

So, two games later, facing the bottom of the table side who have no wins, just a solitary point and have only scored three times in their six games - is Burnley a MUST win?
