Bless you Neil [emoji123][emoji482]

[MENTION=38362]vagabond[/MENTION], can I now refer to the thread that GB’s locked? By the time I went to post the following, it was too late :(

You and a few others were never in a small minority in believing in Potter, or the only ones prepared to vocalise their NSC support for him in the ‘dark days’ of Nov & Dec.

I think Potter consistently had outspoken support from a huge number of posters, I can picture so many of the names.

You don’t walk a lonely path

It’s all good West [emoji482] and I didn’t mean to imply there were few of us. The majority here were and are still behind the manager, but few of us back then were speaking up. I think there’s been a sea change since we put together our run and people believe more.

But it’s going to be a rocky road from here. This Fulham team don’t look like giving up. We may go through the wringer a bit more before we secure safety.

Are we all gonna have a big ole virtual group hug before the West Brom game? I think we might need one.

Dan Burn started out popular at Fulham but eventually the penny dropped that he was often out of position in defence and he was eased aside. TBH most Fulham fans are amazed he's been able to hold down a place in the BHA starting lineup for so long. Sounds like he may have done us a couple of favours last night.

Burn is a squad player at Brighton, due to injuries (March and Webster) he is starting at the moment. I’m not his biggest fan but he’s genuine and a decent squad player, the thing which does wind me up is that for someone who is 6’7” he’s actually pretty crap in the air.

For someone who is 6'7 he is actually very good with his feet. I prefer that. He does win plenty of headers he just isn't a decent goalscorer with his nut. It also winds me up that a giraffe is expected to also be able to jump like a gazelle.

Tired of the hate now, c'mon Big Dan please get your first goal for us at the other Albion.

I respect honest triers such as Burn and Maupay, but neither should be in the starting eleven when everyone is fit.

I watched the highlights last night and Burn was involved in pretty much all of them, good and bad.

He got beat for the first on the halfway line, but Dunk and White hold just as much blame as Burn for the first - Dunk basically more so as he simply got into a position where he did nothing.

The second, there are so many players around Townsend we simply have to stop the cross, there is no way he should have had the space to get that in. I’m not making an excuse for Burn, but he had ran up and down that pitch in the second half supporting every attack, that he was a bit dead on his heels in the 94th against a sub who’d been on 10mins. I don’t know why neither Dunk or White had tracked to the far post because there was no one else in the box and no one else looking to cover Benteke with Burn, both Dunk and White covered positions that had no one around them. Both goals they can look at collectively rather than individual error.

If you’re right and he was knackered from ‘supporting every attack’ then that is something that can be changed/learned from. Perhaps he shouldn’t be running up and down the pitch supporting every attack if it affects his defensive capability.

True, but also why you might expect Dunk or White to be picking up Benteke. Burn was LB, okay he’s unusually tall, but you wouldn’t normally want your full back picking up the centre forward in the dying minutes would you. Watch the goal again, we have about 6 players or so dealing with just Townsend and Benteke. No reason Dunk couldn’t have dropped so we had one in front, one behind.
