Brussels Airport Terrorist attack

If there are no problems why should the head of the Met be expressing concern? IDS can talk about huge dangers in remaining and that's fine because his point favours Brexit. The head of a committee overseeing a homegrown terrorist attack nine years ago is also fine and worth quoting because his point too is convenient to Brexit. However, the current concerns of the country's most senior serving police officer are discounted because they don't fit the Brexit narrative.

I thought we had already covered this. Those who are pro EU will find opinion and reports supporting their view and those that want Brexit will do the same providing an alternative view and both sides will usually dismiss the others points come what may. In this instance you provided one respected source/opinion who suggested a possible negative outcome for security if we leave the EU so I provided two other respected opinions which give an alternative view. Who to believe?

Well, the first video you posted and presumably agree with is from an educated Sunni woman. So... i'm not sure she would enter the toilet with her left foot first...

I'm a christian, and i believe adam and eve is a nice creation myth, and can be used metaphorically.

It seems to me your argument needs refinement.

wonder if she watched the programme as I did ITV last night about Saudi Arabia?

I was just talking generally. The concept of Adam and Eve being a creation myth is a modern view for Christians. Even using it metaphorically is a stretch of the imagination to make it fit. Muslims though, actually believe it in the literal sense.

Do you believe that Muslims believe in the same God as you, and do you believe in Karen Armstrong's version of Muhammad? She is an ex Catholic btw.

Oh I so hope that's accurate. There must be so many Muslims in this country who are sick of having their faith dragged through the mud by these mentalists, but I imagine most of think there's nothing they can do.

I'd like to see more done to watch what Imams preach, and prosecute those that preach hate or encourage violence.
With you there Triggaaar and according to CMD we all need to be vigilant. Higher presence of Police, well no different today at Manchester Piccadilly just the same as Monday. What about these muslims that have gone and returned from Iraq/Syria whats that all about ? So when Trump says 'whats going on' i can see where he is coming from. Yesterday Farage was spot-on about open borders, but May denies this why ? Has terrorism become a game ?

The difference is that I have been perfectly prepared to say that different experts have different opinions but so many Brexiters insist that any expert who disagrees with them is 'scaremongering'. There is a holier than thou spirit which sometimes grates.

No I think you'll find they were asking why,

why, they stone women,
why, murder homosexuals,
why, they discriminate against women
why, would any sane person think killing indiscriminately might offer access to 72 virgins
why, a woman should be treated as a second rate citizen

what mindset would consider these things acceptable, a frigging Islamic religious one, thats what ........

1st off if you're talking generally, it would be good to use general language, perhaps use the words 'some' or 'most'.
The language of your posts tends to brush one quarter of the world's population with the same thoughts.

Take this quote from your post:
"Muslims though, actually believe it in the literal sense."
To me this means, when taken in context with the previous two sentences, that you believe that all muslims believe a creation myth in a literal manner. Think about this. Absurd obviously? Perhaps you don't know any muslims? Just a guess.

Armstrong's video seemed a little wishy washy to me, although if it works for her, and she's not harming anyone then it's ok with me.
Couple of problems with the question Re: same God.
1st: I'm an agnostic theist...
2nd: Define what you mean by god

OK, let's not go there... suffice to say, i know some muslims that have a very similar ideology to me, and the news shows me some that don't. I couldn't comment on the rest, i don't have your mind reading skills.

True that, but it's also a 'christian' mindset in some parts of the world and history.

I think the common thing is medieval/backward societies and all those things that go with it, lack of education, opportunities etc.

And "why" when they can not be peaceful in their own part of the world, do we have to put up with the backward ideology (of SOME) over here.

Surely education and opportunities are in all honestly in the UK some of best of the world ? Just look at the many migrants that for whatever reason have chosen the UK and built businesses and lead successful lives.

Yes, but lets chip away at the ludicrousy of this religion (let alone the barbarism).

I was pretty much rinsed of any religious aspiration at my secondary modern in the 70's, Islam is a comparatively aggressive religion in terms of those people we seem so willing to suck in.

I can never be sure who coined the term 'moderate' and sell it as the reasonable face of a ever growing dominate religion, who can view anyone that might pray several times a day, modify their food and liquid intake and rarely marry out of their mythically religion, show levels of offense about a frigging cartoon, whilst openly endorsing sexism and homophobia as something moderate in Britain in 21st century.

Islam needs a good dose of ridicule, just as every previous angry, greedy religions before it, it needs a good kicking ........................

If that's all Trump said, we wouldn't all have our jaws on the floor.
Has terrorism become a game ?
Sadly everything's a game to politicians.

That's basically inevitable though. Someone campaigning for us to stay in is likely to point out that things are ok now, and say that the economy or security will be much worse if we leave - unless they really have genuine evidence to prove that's the case (and they don't, because no one knows what will happen) that's basically scaremongering.

Obviously it's unlikely that someone campaigning for us to leave is going to do the same, as it wouldn't make sense.

No one knows what will happen if we exit but we can be fairly sure that things will stay broadly the same in the short term at least if we stay in. So, on security alone, there have been 56 deaths from terrorist atrocities on British soil since 2005 - 55 in the tube and bus bombings (including the bombers) plus Lee Rigby.

In just one of those years, 2013, by comparison 1,713 people lost their lives in UK road traffic accidents.

We are never 100% safe but we are much safer than we think we are. For me the economic arguments regarding Brexit are where we should be looking to decide. Either side piggy backing on an event like yesterday are making opportunity out of tragedy.

I don't believe in God but I do believe that Jesus was a teacher of new ways and died on the cross. Muslims believe that Allah made it look like Jesus died on the cross, which would mean that Allah tricks people with lies and deception. I don't believe that Christianity and Islam are compatible.

So is Allah and God one and the same?
