Take the horse and carriage ride from the main square. It costs 15 euros and the driver is well clued up on all the local sites. You can also see the city from the canals.

If you like beer, chocolate and mussels (not necessarily at the same time), you will be in heaven...the Belgians are unbeatable in that respect.

They are. All the restaurants are good. They are like French restaurants in that their menus are displayed so you can walk round and compare. You can sit outside even on a cool evening as they have awnings and heaters should you need them.

I love Bruges.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
The Folklore museum is excellent. When I went it had a working pub with a black cat snoozing on the counter :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Also the brewery tour at the Straffe Hendrick brewery is good:drink::drink::drink:

Whole place is worth seeing - although the main square is a bit pricey and touristy (there used to be an excellent Hoegaarden bar in the corner - no idea if its still there though)

No, the hotels range from £65 per room upwards for B&B.

There is a great little pub down an alley between the burg and the main square. If you have the square behind you it is about half way down on the right hand side. It is a little way down the alley and not obvious. They do 100 different beers.

Sounds quite good as I love mussels in fact all shell fish. Is it expensive to stay there.

Well worth a day or two if you get the chance and Brussels is a good city to go to as well around an hour away by train.

Isn't that cruel on the horse though?
