Friday see's the start of this years British Grand Prix the last to be held at silverstone.

Will Brawn carry on with there great start to the season and win the big one for J Button or can the other teams produce some thing to match the Brawn GP Team.

The weather looks perfect for the event over the next few days.

Hard to call, the gap has been closed but I think Brawn will still have the edge this weekend. No news of McClaren improvements so expect Lewis to struggle again.

I bet this won't really be the last GP at Silverstone. Donnington were supposed to be upgrading facilities this year with a £100m redevelopment plan, but that has stalled because of some kind of legal wrangling going on with the holding company over rent arrears there. And there's currently no safety certificate from the MSA for that venue.

Ecclestone is all mouth and no trousers - if Donnington isn't ready, which is looking likely, it'll revert to Silverstone.

Or not be held in the UK at all, is also possibilty, shocking as it sounds. There are plenty of Middle/Far Eastern countries that have the finances to build or convert a track at short notice, and probably pay Ecclestone more

Should make it a street race in Brighton next year...

Start in Kings Road going clockwise, up Montpelier Road, a long sweeping straight through Denmark and Vernon Terrace, fun to be had going round Seven Dials, turn off down Buckingham Place, into Terminus Road and a tricky chicane into Surrey Street entering the top of Queens Road, then power on down into West Street and then right into Kings Road again.

No British GP is a distinct possibility. The BRDC (British Racing Drivers Club) own Silverstone and to say they don't get on with Moseley and Ecclestone is an understatement. Jackie Stewart was once described by Moseley along the lines of a mad Scottish buffoon whilst Stewart stuck the knife in over moseley's Goose stepping, swastika antics last year. Pissing Silverstone off is Ecclestone and Moseleys favourite game whilst the BRDC have had enough of the cash demands placed on them to host it.

The problem for them is that most of the teams and a great deal of Corporate entertainment is based in Britain. They will be under pressure to host it but then the teams were keen for the GP's in Belgium and Canada to stay but both have been removed from the calender in recent years.

Now the big teams have announced they are starting their own series next year, I reckon there will be a GP at Silverstone next year, just won't be called F1 or Grand Prix I expect, as Ecclestone will have the rights to those names!
(remains to see if this breakaway will fully happen though!)

Incorrect.

The news that the FOTA teams have decided to go and play with themselves next year certainly raises more than a few questions and with most F1 journalists in a state of speechlessness this morning, we thought we would pose… questions sent in by our readers to Malcolm Price, Head of Media and Sporting studies at Luton Polytechnic:

Q: So, Malcolm, what will the new series be called?
A: Well, it can’t be ‘Formula One’ and as yet Bernie has not managed to trademark the words ‘Grand Prix’, so I’d stick a tenner on ‘The Grand Prix World Championship’. In fact I think I’ll nip off and trademark it now…

I expect crunch time to be coming pretty soon for the Donington 2010 race and if they cannot guarantee to put it on by a certain date it will be switched to another European circuit, i.e. they could replace the British GP with a "European Grand Prix" at the Nurburgring.

My sources tell me that there is unlikely to be a split in F1 and that the teams simply want Max Mosley out and Bernie to give them more money, and that they'll have to yield in time.

the MSA Certificate was approved prior to the BTCC round there a few weeks ago (April probably cant remember) so thats all fine, pretty sure the legal wrangling was all cleared aswell but not 100% sure on that.

The sooner they say "f*** it...lets go back to Brands!" the better.....never gonna happen but it would be COOL!
