Far too many bands left out of that list, and a choice of 3 virtually impossible, but if push came to shove then it's,

Queen
10cc
Supertramp

And so it begins. Personally I've never got the appeal of The Clash or the Arctic Monkeys.

That's obviously all well and good, music being entirely personal.

Those two bands were both in my top three, and I find it difficult to understand why others don't get them.

But that's OK, as I said music taste is entirely personal.

I'm not sure where the relevance of your comments were as a response to Mellotron's post, though.

To confirm, I’m only saying they are far above the rest FOR ME. Not that they should be for anyone else.

All is subjective.

They’ve all had their day, so I wouldn’t try to save any of them. Trying to save the Beatles with George and John dead seems particularly futile. Similarly, Syd Barrett was the only interesting bit of Pink Floyd, and he’s gone too.

Some great bands there, but letting go of the old to make room for the new (or at least new to the listener) is important.

OK I'm bias as they were my No. 1 pick but I would assert that Iron Maiden are still" having their day " judging by this crowd shot from Warsaw last night!

It’s just for fun :)
